The Toxic Father - RDR 2!

Hi there,

I always cherish the part where the game represents not just the imagination but the social aspects as well. One such social aspect I came across in Rhodes. When a family is involved in the story, I like to play it gun-less. You don't know which aspect of the story you will end up changing while killing family members.

I have a few stories lined up for the coming blogs which will depict the social aspect of this game. let's start!

Do you remember this prisoner? I helped him in the last blog, and in return for help, he gave me a tip, to loot a house located in south of Rhodes.

I started riding south of Rhodes, there I found this tree with a boat on it. I wonder what kind of storm caused this.

I reached the house. The first thing I do in such instances is to have a good look at the surroundings and the exit points to run off.

Why it is important to do a recce?

It is very easy to have a bounty on you. There are many people already in the environment so if someone sees he/she will surely report it to the sheriff, all the earnings from loot will end up in paying bounty.

I took a complete look around the house and found the entry and exit points.

No window, no underground space, and no roof entry. The only way to get in is through the main door.

I entered the house and found people talking. I stopped at the door.

I hid behind the wall to listen to their conversation. In conversation, you can find the spots to loot.

The father was very angry with his son and was telling him to be a man instead of being a crybaby. I wonder what went wrong between the two. Father slapped the boy.

The father noticed me and took out his revolver. He shouted at me and I went outside the house.

It is never easy to loot anything in day. I camped nearby to return in the night.

I want to know what's the story behind this family.

Instead of directly looting the house, I started looking around to know more about this family.

I went to all the rooms one by one. There were 2-3 bedrooms.

I entered one of the rooms and went to a table.

I found this letter.

After reading the letter the story was clear to me. The father was an alcoholic and his wife did not like the abusive attitude. Hence the wife left the house, early in the morning. She left this note and the boy read this. That's why he was crying and his father was telling him to be like a grown-up man.

That's why slow-paced roaming is required in this game. Many things can go unnoticed in this close-to-real-world game. I thankfully found the letter and found the story behind this house.

However, I found the boy sleeping in a room. His father was sitting at the main entry door.

I checked the drawer and found some documents and letters.

It was about to sunrise again, so I took the documents for later reading.

The father was sleeping. A few bottles around him show that he was drinking and sleeping here.

Might be waiting for his wife at the door.

He got up and came to me, I tried to talk him out but he took out his revolver again.

He had a boy, I don't want to kill the father. Killing the father will leave the boy in despair.

I took out my lasso and took him hostage.

After talking out, I cut him free.

But he started fighting me again. I fought him and punched him a few times, before knocking him out.

I went inside the house. The son was shouting. He might have seen us fighting. That's why I refrained from using guns. A fistfight is better than being a gunslinger.

The son ran outside. I checked the rooms again one by one.

I found the money and a shotgun. I got $80 hidden in the chimney.

I went outside and a few people started shooting me. Seems like to boy told them about me.

I switched into my gunslinger mode and shot them down.

I did not find the boy, so I started walking outside of the complex. I am thinking to go in Rhodes again.

Wow! Excellent selection of photos, pal, but even better storytelling.... :)

I liked how you handled the situation in the loot house, without murdering the father or the son, and how through your research you helped us to know the background behind the father and the son.

Excellent work.

Cheers, pal.

The father was very angry with his son and was telling him to be a man instead of being a crybaby.

After reading this I thought the father was a good man trying to teach some life lesson to his son.

After reading the letter the story was clear to me. The father was an alcoholic and his wife did not like the abusive attitude. Hence the wife left the house, early in the morning. She left this note and the boy read this. That's why he was crying and his father was telling him to be like a grown-up man.

But it looks like he's actually a bad example for his son.

I liked your strategy to camp and scout the place before looting it.

I really like the stealth part that you used to be able to move through some places without being chased, this game is very amazing not only for its graphics, but for its great gameplay, it gives you a very rewarding experience.
