Cats on Cars
The only explanation I can think of is they like to be on the top observing from a higher point.

Temperature is very high and the car's top metal isn't that cool at all, yet all the time the cats are on the cars, not in their A/c cooled room, not near the doors where the air is colder from beneath the doors, they're always on the cars.
