A Trip to the Peak of the Mountains - Fruits, Flowers and More!!!
Yesterday, we went to visit our hometown up in the mountains. Our main objective was to check on our oldest aunt that had been gradually weakening due to old age plus some injuries in the past. Our grandparents don’t have any official record as to her exact date of birth but correlating to important events during the World War 2, she is said to be around 82 years old.
Just as we arrived, we are greeted by the guava trees with their bountiful fruits. The vibrant yellow color of the ripe fruits immediately catch our attention.
A photo of the actual tree that greeted us but after the harvest and after a heavy rain.
Judging that it could rain any minute, I did not waste any time to show the city kids how to pick the fruits. They are excited as it is their first time.
There are a lot of fruits but we only picked what we can eat. The ones that are left are for the birds, chickens and insects. I was worried that we might not be able to pick enough before the rain would arrive so I forgot to take photos during the picking process.
An Unknown Wild Fruit
As we are picking, one of our cousins arrived from their farm with some wild fruit that they picked along the way.
This kind of fruit/berry is a bit rare when we are kids. I'm amazed to know that some still survived up to this date.
I tried using Google Lens to determine the name of this fruit in English but was not able too. This one has a light to moderate sourly taste. It also has a very slippery liquid inside along with its seeds.
I halved one of it to show you how does it look inside.
If you happened to know the know of this fruit, kindly let me know in the comments below.
50 Pounds of Fresh Fruits
I think we are too excited that we managed to pick a total of around 50 pounds of guava – this is a lot for us to consume. Anyways, we would be happy to give more than half of this to our neighbors back in the city.
Guava Galleria
After taking a look at our aunt and after the heavy rain, I decided to explore the surroundings to take photos. It was still drizzling but I am worried that it will get dark soon and I would miss my chance.
Here are some macro shots of the remaining fruits of the first tree that we picked fruit from:

A couple of overripe fruits got the attention of fruit flies and birds.
Colorful Fungi
As I stroll down, I noticed this fungi growing on a rotting bamboo stem. I find them beautiful so I took some photos.
My phones cameras’ autofocus made it difficult to focus on where I want it to be.
Mountain Candies
At a distant, this tree caught my attention as it brings back memories. We used to climb this tree and gather its berries to eat it back when we’re kids. Think of it as our natural candies. 😁
Again, my phones’ cameras’ autofocus is focusing on the background instead of the berries so I took a small branch and took a photo of it.

Orchid Decorations
On the side of the house I noticed some orchids and took some photos.

A Shrub Shade
They also have this shrub being used as a natural a shade in front of the house. I took photos of some of its flowers.
Asian Pigeonwings (Butterfly Pea)
Some close-up shots:
Red Ginger
At the back of the house, I found this Red Ginger plant.
A couple of close-up shots on its flowers:
Notice the ants searching for probably nectars.
Marigold
As I move further back, I found a marigold (according to Google Lens).
Some close-up shot of its flowers too.
A Natural Arch
On the side where I was taking photos, I noticed this guava forming an arch over a foot path. It is dangling its fruits to whoever pass by. 😊
Final Shots
As we conclude our visit and walk back towards where the car is parked, we passed over this Green Tea tree.
Right next to it is a fruiting banana tree.
I took a close-up shot on a couple of hornets looking for nectars on its bud.
Closing Remarks

Thank you for that, 😁
I grew up in the province, so we used to have a lot of guava plants, now that I'm in the city, I just miss eating guavas for free. HAHA.. Guava is quite expensive when you bought it in the city.
You just given me an idea of selling the guavas. My problem is just the market. 😁

I wonder about all the fruits we don’t know and how many different tastes we’d get to discover when we find them. You have us a lot in this post — from fungi to flowers and fruits that I don’t know.
Please what type of berries are they? Do you know what they are called?
😉I wouldn’t mind another post like this.
We have a local term for this but I cannot find the name of it in English. I tried using Google Lens but it is giving similar but very different fruits/berries. 😊
