Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 114 ~ Nesting Birds
(Edited)
I'm always amazed at the intricacy of the different nests that our #featheredfriends build.
This week's #SMaP wants us to show pictures of bird nests and if we are fortunate enough maybe we can catch a bird building or sitting on their nest.
While enjoying a day at a county park and sitting under the roof of a pavilion I saw a few birds zipping around under the same structure. I must have taken 50 pictures while trying to catch them in flight. I believe what I saw were Barn Swallows. There was a lot of activity in the pavilion and the birds seemed to be bothered by all of the activity.
After watching them for several minutes I sensed that the birds were mates, not just two random swallows.
As this swallow flew by I turned my head trying to follow its flight and that was when I realized why they continued to fly in and out of the covered building at a frantic pace.
I figured that they were agitated by all of the people as they tried to make their way back to this nest. As the activity slowed one of the swallows thought it safe enough to fly in and plop itself in the nest. It was either sitting on some eggs or recently hatched offspring in need of some warmth.
The picture below is the one I would like to be considered for the contest, thank you.
The nest seemed massive for such a small bird, but why live in a Tiny House when you have the skills to build a mansion? With the variation of feathers protruding from the nest in this picture, I would have bet that their babies had arrived.
The time spent by these three, @melinda010100, @barbara-orenya, and @nelinovia, must keep them very busy as the #feateredfriends community continues to SOAR.

Swallows are so incredible, tiny little ones with small beaks, they really build mansions. 😀
What a great find and just for this round, lovely post, my friend. 🙂
There're a lot of good ones this week!
Your entry is best and valuable. Hopefully you will win this contest.
I'm glad you think so, thanks for such a nice comment.
Most welcome.
I wonder how you got to realize that those birds are mate
I guess you are very observant

Thank you for the boost, it's greatly appreciated.
There is such a huge amount of hard work invovled in making that massive nest. How much does it take to complete the nest?
From the size of the nest, I would imagine it would take a while. The way they put it all together, strand by strand is amazing.
I have tailor birds in my garden and every year they make the nest by sewing the leaves with their mouth, that's worth watching.

How cool is that, good name for a bird that sews its nest together, talior bird.
That was a very cool nest, your entry photo really captured the moment. Mother Nature at her best ❤️
