Really beautiful shots! They do look like geese but it is hard to tell from that distance. It's amazing how they instinctually know how to line up in the V to minimize wind resistance as they travel over long distances. It's also fascinating how they know which way to go, as they have a compass in their brains that guides the way!
That just got me thinking, almost all animals instinctually know how to swim. But not humans. Amazing how we even managed to survive as a species when we have to learn everything from our parents and experiences along the way... Then we do have the tendency to find something to complain about all of the time. I guess it's in our nature to never be absolutely content, maybe it's part of that drive to survive. Or maybe it's learned? Who knows? For my part I try to focus on the positive more than the negative, but much more easily said than done.
Excellent pictures as always. I always look forward to your posts! I hope you survive the heat wave and that your folks tolerate the cold!

Oh yes, you know all about it, and they will continue to change the leader according to rank, and also the distance of the flight. It's amazing to see how they know in which direction to fly, and a lot also depends on the direction of the winds.
I think that that the animals taught the first of mankind to swim, as they must have been watching how the animals swim on a hot day :) There is no contentment in this world, as it is packed with pitfalls, and troubles. As soon as a wee bit of contentment sets in, something will occur that will negate it. Best always is to focus on the positive, and to try ones best to avoid the negative in my book.
Thank you for your great comments, and compliments, as I always appreciate it. Thankfully the heat wave is starting to be on its way inland, and we feel for the people where it is headed.
