¡Hola chicos! Espero que estén muy bien. Hoy acompañé a mi novio a trabajar en una granja vecina. Los señores estaban necesitando ayuda para movilizar unos sacos de yuca para poder dárselos al ganado, especialmente a las vacas que están produciendo leche.

Yo, siempre dispuesta a la aventura, y la verdad no tanto la acción, pero sí bastante a la aventura y a documentarla lo acompañé e incluso hasta ayudé en un momento a levantar uno de estos sacos que son pesadísimos, pero igual intentamos agarrar uno que no estaba tan pesado para mí.

Lo movilizamos desde un cubículo a otro y los fuimos acomodando para aplastarlos, así de esta forma ellos evaporan el cianuro que hay en la yuca amarga y luego de pasar por este proceso las vacas pueden comerlo.

Estuvimos más o menos alrededor de una hora en este lugar ayudando a hacer esto. Pude ver que como lo aplastaban parecía algo fácil , pero la verdad es que lo hacían con un objeto de hierro pesadísimo y al mismo tiempo que lo dejaban caer hacían fuerza para aplastar la yuca.

We spent about an hour in this place helping to do this. I could see that how they crushed it looked easy, but the truth is that they were doing it with a heavy iron object and at the same time they were dropping it they were using force to crush the yucca.

Primera vez que veo esto y por lo tanto iba haciendo mis respectivas preguntas acerca del proceso de esta yuca, acerca de cada cuánto tiempo hacían esto y algunas curiosidades que tenía. Descubrí que esto lo hacen algunos ganaderos pequeños con intención de ayudar a suplementar un poco ganado, pero esto a su vez es contraproducente porque no se les puede dar a consumir diariamente, ni en grandes cantidades porque de lo contrario podrían envenenarse, aunque la yuca amarga pasa por un proceso para eliminar el cianuro, aún quedan restos de él y muchas veces se han registrado casos de vacas envenenadas.

First time I see this and therefore I was asking my respective questions about the process of this yucca, about how often they did this and some curiosities I had. I found out that this is done by some small cattle farmers with the intention of helping to supplement a little cattle, but this in turn is counterproductive because they can not be given to consume daily, nor in large quantities because otherwise they could be poisoned, although the bitter cassava goes through a process to remove the cyanide, there are still traces of it and many times there have been cases of poisoned cows.

Muchas veces he visto como los pequeños productores y ganaderos tienen que ingeniárselas para ayudar a suplir al ganado los nutrientes e intentar ayudar a aumentar la producción de leche, especialmente en épocas como el verano se puede presenciar esto debido a la falta de pastos ricos en proteínas y más altos en fibras.

Many times I have seen how small farmers and ranchers have to figure out how to help supply the cattle with nutrients and try to help increase milk production, especially in times like summer this can be witnessed due to the lack of protein rich and higher fiber pastures.

Esta tarea no se veía demasiado difícil, pero definitivamente tenía su peso y su carga. Al final los hombres terminaron un poco exhaustos y casi sin aliento de estar levantando este objeto pesado e ir aplastando la yuca en el suelo, pero muy orgulloso de poder ayudar y cada tarea cumplida es de gran felicidad para todos nosotros, de eso estoy segura.

This task did not look too difficult, but it definitely had its weight and burden. In the end the men ended up a bit exhausted and almost out of breath from lifting this heavy object and crushing the yucca on the ground, but very proud to be able to help and every task accomplished is of great happiness for all of us, of that I am sure.
