🇪🇸 ~ Mi familia es grande, tanto del lado paterno como materno, eso significa muchas fiestas de Quinceañera; en mi familia esta la costumbre de celebrar el cumple años 15 de las niñas con un gran fiesta de noche, la etiqueta para asistir es vestido de noche para las damas y traje con saco para los caballeros.

🇺🇸 ~ My family is large, both on my father's and mother's side, which means lots of quinceañera parties. In my family, it is customary to celebrate girls' 15th birthdays with a big evening party. The dress code for attendance is evening gowns for the ladies and suits with jackets for the gentlemen.

La moda puede cambiar con los años pero las mujeres de mi familia siempre asistimos con vestidos de noche, a diferencia de la tendencia cada vez mas marcada de asistir a eventos de noche o de gala con vestidos de coctel. Lo que sí variamos con los años es que cambiamos los colores, cuando al principio preferíamos los colores sobrios (negro, gris, azul oscuro, marrón, o colores pasteles) en esos últimos años preferimos los colores brillantes: En esa fotografía soy la del vestido fucsia.

Fashion may change over the years, but the women in my family always attend evening events in evening gowns, unlike the increasingly popular trend of wearing cocktail dresses to evening or gala events. What has changed over the years is that we now wear different colors. At first, we preferred sober colors (black, gray, dark blue, brown, or pastel colors), but in recent years we have come to prefer bright colors: In that photo, I am the one wearing the fuchsia dress.

De izquierda a derecha, esta mi hermano menor, mi prima favorita, y después su hermano. En la fila de abajo de izquierda a derecha, están mis primas gemelas y yo en medio (la de vestido vinotinto es quien me enseño a bordar, es una persona hermosa y la extraño mucho, actualmente emigró a otro país); esta foto me gusta mucho porque es un pedacito de memoria de esos últimos años que pasamos juntos, antes de que empezaran las migraciones masivas, también todos éramos solteros y aún no había sobrinos. Seguíamos siendo todos unos niños.

From left to right, this is my younger brother, my favorite cousin, and then her brother. In the bottom row, from left to right, are my twin cousins and me in the middle (the one in the burgundy dress is the one who taught me to embroider; she is a beautiful person and I miss her very much; she has now emigrated to another country). I really like this photo because it's a little piece of memory from those last years we spent together before the mass migrations began. We were all single and there were no nieces or nephews yet. We were all still kids.
