🇪🇸 ~ El pasado jueves 12 de Junio se cumplió 1 año exacto desde que empece este proyecto personal de recuperación, esterilización y búsqueda de hogares para gatitos en situación de calle (comunitarios y rescatados).
🇺🇸 ~ Last Thursday, June 12, marked exactly one year since I started this personal project of recovering, sterilizing, and finding homes for community and rescued kittens.
No puedo creer que ya pasó un año, a la fecha de hoy hemos podido asistir a 6 o 7 jornadas de esterilización de las que solo he compartido aquí los primeros 2 viajes... de los siguientes grupos poco registro guardé porque tanto física como mentalmente me sentía agotada...
I can't believe that a year has already passed, to date we have been able to attend 6 or 7 sterilization journeys of which I have only shared here the first 2 trips... of the following groups I kept little record because both physically and mentally I felt exhausted...
No es facil encargarse de tantas cosas, el stress y la falta de descanso se acumula hasta que te noquea un día sin darte cuenta, porque se trata de reunir los fondos, recuperar la salud de los gatitos, ubicar el recinto para resguardarlos a todos, organizar el transporte, atraparlos unos días antes para monitorear su estado, y viajar todos juntos al otro lado de la ciudad desde temprano por la mañana, y despues, un aproximado de 20 días de cuidados post operatorios.
It is not easy to take care of so many things, the stress and lack of rest accumulates until it knocks you out one day without realizing it, because it's about raising the funds, recovering the kittens' health, locating the enclosure to shelter them all, organizing transportation, catching them a few days before to monitor their condition, and traveling all together to the other side of the city early in the morning, and then, approximately 20 days of post-operative care.
Mi respeto por las personas que llevan adelante fundaciones o organizaciones rescatistas esta por las nubes. No se cómo lo hacen pero se merecen el cielo, no son de este mundo, su fortaleza emocional y mental simplemente no es normal.
I have a lot of respect for the people who run foundations or rescue organizations. I don't know how they do it, but they deserve a place in heaven. They are not of this world; their emotional and mental fortitude is simply not normal.
Humildemente llevo apenas 1 añito en esto y me siento re golpeada, aprendí en el camino que hay gente muy, muy mala... que hay que hacer oídos sordos a lo que opinen otras personas de manera negativa sobre esta clase de proyectos, al final la desagradable verdad es que son personas podridas por dentro que poco o nada positivo aportan al mundo, su miseria espiritual y moral es su asunto. NUNCA CONFIEN EN UNA PERSONA QUE ES CRUEL CON LOS ANIMALES.
I humbly admit that I have only been doing this for one year, and I feel really beaten. I have learned along the way that there are very bad people. You have to turn a deaf ear to what others say negatively about these kinds of projects. In the end, the unpleasant truth is that they are rotten inside and contribute little or nothing positive to the world. Their spiritual and moral misery is their business. NEVER TRUST A PERSON WHO IS CRUEL TO ANIMALS!
¡Pero hey!, hoy quiero compartir el recorrido que hicimos en el 3er viaje que organizamos, en total pudimos llevar 5 gatitos comunitarios para esa ocasión; hoy todos estan recuperados, 2 ya estan en nuevos y maravillosos hogares y 3 estan a la espera de una familia amorosa y responsable (puedes visitar las historias destacadas en mi cuenta de Instagram para más información en caso estes interesado en adoptar alguno).
But hey!, today I want to share the tour we did on the 3rd trip we organized, in total we were able to take 5 community kittens for that occasion; today they are all recovered, 2 are already in wonderful new homes and 3 are waiting for a loving and responsible family (you can visit the featured stories on my Instagram account for more information in case you are interested in adopting any of them).
Te aviso que estes es un long-post con muchas fotos, ese día quice retratar cómo era ir a una jornada de esterilización de bajo costo organizada por la alcaldía de mi ciudad. Salimos aproximadamente a las 7:30 am y regresamos a casa a las 4 pm. Y así fue 👉 ✨
This is a long post with lots of pictures, that day I wanted to portray what it was like to go to a low-cost sterilization day organized by the mayor's office of my city. We left at approximately 7:30 am and returned home at 4 pm. And so it was 👉 ✨
✦ On this occasion a very nice neighbor helped us get to the site with her van, so we saved the cab fare ✦
✦ Over time I learned that covering all baskets or kennels with a blanket makes kittens less nervous ✦
✦ Although we arrived early, there was already a line of more than 60 or 70 people ✦
✦ We sat on the floor in the place we were assigned, this time we were the whole project team (my two friends and I, the funny thing is that one is a psychologist, another is a surgeon and I am a lawyer, we make a good team and we have all learned together about the care of cats in this adventure, where we started from scratch with only the intention to help) ✦
✦ This site is located in the northern part of the city, it is a huge baseball stadium, the office and veterinary hospital are in one of the lower sections of the architecture ✦
✦ Here they explained the dynamics of the day, I like these explanations very much because each institution has small differences in their rules ✦
✦ The architecture of the roof is cool and massive ✦
Algo que es normal que pase cuando transportas gatitos a consulta o a estas jornadas es que por los nervios se hagan poo o pis, para eso siempre vamos preparadas con toallas humedas, papel higiénico, detergente y alcohol... y adivinen, la gatita más joven y que nunca nos dio problemas hizo una tormenta en su kennel 😂 obviamente de eso no tome fotos pero menciono el incidente porque las personas que estaban en la fila nos sorprendieron, al ver nuestra situación nos buscaron un balde con agua y nos ofrecieron ayuda, pudimos bañar a Sussy Cookie (la gatita) y lavar perfectamente el kennel para colocarlo al sol hasta que se secara. Hoy sigo muy agradecida con todos los que nos ayudaron y se acercaron para preguntar si teníamos cómo resolver la situación.
Something that is normal to happen when you transport kittens to the doctor's office or to these days is that because of nerves they pee or poo, for that we are always prepared with wet towels, toilet paper, detergent and alcohol... and guess what, the youngest kitten who never gave us problems made a storm in her kennel 😂 obviously I did not take pictures of that but I mention the incident because the people who were in line surprised us, when they saw our situation they looked for a bucket with water and offered us help, we were able to bathe Sussy Cookie (the kitten) and wash perfectly the kennel to place it in the sun until it dried. Today I am still very grateful to everyone who helped us and approached us to ask if we had a way to solve the situation.
El resto del grupo, Perceo, Angel, Querubín y November se quedaron tranquilos en sus casitas improvisadas.
The rest of the group, Perceo, Angel, Cherub and November stayed quietly in their makeshift houses.

✦ The friend with the blue basket was a nice neighbor, and that strawberry juice revived me, I didn't have time to eat breakfast at home that day ✦
✦ And look at that lovely sign! ✦
✦ We met a very nice girl who sews pet accessories to help pay for her studies at veterinary school 💖 ✦
✦ I liked that it had a sign with all the information to pay in different ways ✦
✦ During the course of the afternoon I went to look at the table several times because I could not get too far away from our kittens' baskets ✦
✦ Everything was very nice! ✦
✦ And very affordable prices ✦
✦ Fortunately the models I wanted for Luna and Apollo did not sell out and I was able to buy them! ✦
✦ They are very well made ✦

En esta jornada te asignan un número y marcan cada cesta o kennel de gatito con una etiqueta enorme con 1 número y siglas extra; una vez te llaman, pasas a la mesa donde te registran y pagas el monto de la cirugía, que en esa fecha era 5$ por gatito (actualmente aumento un poquito, a 7$). Luego el personal se lleva a los gatitos, y debes esperar a que te llamen nuevamente cuando salgan de cirugía y reaccionen de la anestesia.
On this day they assign you a number and mark each kitten basket or kennel with a huge label with an extra number and acronym; once they call you, you go to the table where they register you and pay the amount of the surgery, which at that time was $5 per kitten (currently increased a little bit, to $7). Then the staff takes the kittens away, and you must wait for them to call you again when they come out of surgery and react from the anesthesia.
✦ It's past lunchtime ✦
✦ This experience is a bit like camping, you should bring something to eat and water because you will be here for a few hours ✦
✦ But the place is nice and clean, and it's very breezy so the floor is cool and if you have someone to talk to you have a good time ✦

✦ The first kittens to come out were Angel and Cherubin, then Perceo, Sussy Cookie and November were given to us but we quickly covered them with the blanket because the wind became too cold ✦
✦ The sutures looked very secure! ✦
✦ Here my doctor friend was calling the cab to go home ✦
✦ All still under the effects of anesthesia but warmly protected by the blanket and the backpacks as a barrier against the wind ✦
✦ The staff was very kind to us, and we are deeply grateful for their help ✦
✦ The experience was a bit exhausting but all the effort was worth it, the staff of this place is very good and they inspired us a lot of confidence and good energy! ✦
✦ After this visit we have returned 3 more times, and next week we plan to take 3 more kittens with God's favor, we still need to raise the money ✦
Ese día regresamos a casa molidas pero victoriosas, todos los gatitos salieron bien de su operacion y sin complicaciones extra, que siempre es mi gran temor.
Pero todavia no podíamos irnos a descansar, primero había que llevarlos a todos a la casa que nos prestaron para su cuidado, hacer su camita provisional, y vigilarlos por algunas horas hasta que despertaran de la anestesia.
Mi mayor temor siempre es que alguno vomite en una mala posición y se ahogue asi que soy muy nerviosa las primeras 24 horas despues de las cirugías.
That day we went back home exhausted but victorious, all the kittens came out of the operation well and without any extra complications, which is always my great fear.
But we still could not go to rest, first we had to take them all to the house that we borrowed for their care, make their temporary bed, and watch them for a few hours until they woke up from the anesthesia.
My biggest fear is always that one of them will vomit in a bad position and choke, so I am very nervous the first 24 hours after the surgeries.

✦ The treatment for them this time is different from the one they give us at the other place where we like to go when they do sterilization days; here, the antibiotic treatment is for 10 days ✦

✦ Cherubin was always distrustful those weeks, he doesn't let them get close to him. November is a sweet cinnamon roll who helped with the whole treatment, and Sussy Cookie behaved so well that she never took off her post-op girdle ✦

En el "Instituto Municipal de Protección Animal de Maracaibo" puedo decir con sinceridad que todo salio muy bien, todos los animalitos que hemos llevado a cirugía o consulta hoy estan recuperados al 100%.
El personal nos ha tratado de maravilla desde el primer día que fuimos a preguntar por ayuda contándoles el caso de los 28 gatitos comunitarios de nuestra zona, y desde entonces han sido muy solidarios y atentos con cómo ha evolucionado esta situación.
Hoy, solo queda por esterilizar 1 gata hembra y 2 gatos varones, y en casa tengo en recuperación 2 gatitas operadas a inicio de este mes; después de eso me tomaré un descanso y sere yo la que debo ir al doctor 🤣 👍

At the “Instituto Municipal de Protección Animal de Maracaibo ” I can honestly say that everything went very well, all the animals that we have taken for surgery or consultation are now 100% recovered.
The staff has treated us wonderfully since the first day we went to ask for help by telling them about the case of the 28 community kittens in our area, and since then they have been very supportive and attentive to how this situation has evolved.
Today, only 1 female cat and 2 male cats remain to be sterilized, and at home I have 2 kittens in recovery that were operated at the beginning of this month; after that I will take a break and I will be the one who must go to the doctor 🤣 👍
