The Surreal Scene Of Wildfire Smoke

IMG_3731.JPG

I had seen reports that it would be a very hazy day, due to smoke from wildfires in Northern Ontario. This is something we have experienced for the last few years, but I figured I would take my camera equipment with me while I ran some errands.

I walked outside and straight into a surreal scene. No where near as many people on the streets and a heavy yellow/orange haze that smelled of fire. I immediately put the drone up!

This is worse than we in Hamilton Ont. have ever experienced with wildfire smoke, by far! And this is only the beginning.

This is a smoke prediction map for the rest of the week (Hamilton is by Buffalo and Oshawa).

This is going to be a crazy week, but in perspective. I am very thankful we are not in the fire zone. Some absolutely terrifying video's are coming out from there!

A news report that shows an unreal video of people escaping on boats from a wall of fire and smoke.

After I went went into some shops, I came out to a very different sky. Even more yellow! The sky seems to be changing hue and brightness very quickly, because above the smoke is heavy cloud. The sun is briefly coming out and then being covered again. So for a few minutes it is very very yellow/orange as the sun shines through the smoke. Then it will go a very dull when the clouds cover it again.

This is quite the experience so far and it's only just begun! I will continue posting what I see through the week.
