They are So Fluffing Cute
Hello Hello Hivians and a special hello to all the peedie ones in the flock!
A few weeks ago @nelinoeva posted this post My New Feathered Friend - the Long-eared Owl in which she shared with us some pictures of an owl family including pictures of baby owls and boy was she ever right, they were fluffing cute!
I then meant to share some other cute and adorable baby birds that I saw around about the same time, things overtook me though.
But, my photos to share were usurped by another family that I saw on holiday!
So sit back, get your smile ready as we fly off to visit The Peedie Sea at Kirkwall in the Scottish Orkney Islands.
Mrs T thought, that the semicircle and the rubberised boom formed a duck swimming pool. It does seem like that, as it had more sheltered water right enough.
The Peedie Sea or Peerie Sea is actually the remnants of a freshwater loch, but it is right beside the actual sea. Peedie in Orcadian means little or wee, hence the name Peedie Sea.
I will make a more detailed about the Peedie Sea at a later day, they have walks around out and across it and there is a skate park etc.
Did you see that big rock in the water?
Let's go for a zoom in and see what is there ...
Yes, mummy Mallard has had her babies! They are fluffing cute peedie ducklings, but are not the topic of this post!
I looked up and what did I spy across the sea?
It was a swan family. I had seen our local swan family in Kirkcaldy just before we left, but these look teenyweeny ones and just a matter of days old!
Talk about cute, they are days old here ...
This was the day after we arrived in Orkney and I wanted to go see some wildlife. I remembered the Peedie Sea on the way to the actual sea and it was straight down the road from where we were staying.
My memory was intact after all those years.
Little did I think or remember that we had swans on this peedie bay of water.
If you read my blogs you know I do love birds, but swans take pride of place for me, and I am forever talking to them or is that or is that feeding them!
The Peedie sea is by the water treatment plant and they actually have it blocked off so you cannot walk past it on the grass side.
Did you see something sitting on the swan's back?
Hehe little baby number 6 was saying fluff it, I can get a free ride around so why not!
To me they really are the epitome of fluff balls, and they are so darn cute.
We did see them the next couple of days and they seemed to have grown ...
Now what about this ...
Is that not the fluffiest of fluffybutts that you have seen @balikis95 ...
This swan family think the whole Peedie Sea belongs to them. Although they stay by the water plant on the right of the walkway, stroppy swan chased away a couple of swans that had the temerity to try to stay on the left of the walkway!
Until next time and I shall get some perching pictures ready for the latest smap!
Thanks for visiting and have a fantastic July ....

Aww 🥰 Such a cute fluffy babies 😍
They really are Monika, gotta you make smile 💙
They sure did ☺️💙
Ah Christ they're cute alright!!! Surely there's laws against such levels of cuteness!!
lol I know right, this was almost the first thing we saw on holiday, ridiculously cute indeed!
They are defintely cute for sure. Very good shots of their little swan family. I thought the little one hitch hiking on his moms back was the smart one for sure.
hehe yeah I liked the wee one hitching a ride, smart one, yeah you nailed that Joe!
Indeed they are cute .
Why are there so many swans and ducks in your area... I only see roasted ducks here 😂..
lol roasted ducks, you know it is funny you say that, most people only eat duck when it is at a Chinese restaurant, I remember in China Town in London the Chinese restaurants used to all have the cooked roasted ducks hanging in the window.
Yup..it is common here..haha.. Hanging roasted ducks and pork in restaurants and street food stalls..
Oh pork as well! Just the ducks here.

You are bang on they are beautiful and cute, nature is the best!
Fluffing cuteness spot on, the one hitching a ride must be the youngest little rascal. Water birds always totally adorable with the little ones paddling around with parents.

(no space) to get help on Hive. Infohehe yeah I'm pretty sure the one hitching the ride is indeed the youngest wee rascal. I usually miss seeing them do that, so was well chuffed to see it :)
Pretty good sighting as well, they did not appear to up close on the water. Have a great day!
Very true, thanks and you too!

Oh my god, these fluff balls are super cute and super adoring. I wonder how on earth, Hans Christian Andersen though of The Ugly Ducking when the cygnets are anything but ugly.
You put a big smile on my face. Oh, the cutest of all is the one hiding on the parent's back.
You are welcome Neli, I had our local swan family in pictures, but these ones were even younger so I just had to share. I thought you might like to see them!
What a good point, just where did The Ugly Ducking inspiration come from?
Now I am on a mission to find out!
Hehe, I love number 6 swan. It doesn't want to get its fluffy feathers wet, and you can blame the fluffy looking swan. It is so cute.
It is the fluffiest of fluffy fancy fluffybutts and... I love them🥰🥰
hehe yes number 6 gets the cute prize!
I love this ...
Hehe, no doubt.
Hehe, I do too.😍
For a second there I thought they are goose or ducks, whats actually the deference between goose and ducks and swans, i only know swans are more beautiful
Generally size, swans are bigger than geese which are much bigger than ducks!
Oohh i see thats lovely to know the difference, noted big time

The bird you have highlighted in your post are an epitome of cuteness.
So glad to see you find the time to spend time with them despite your busy schedule on hive
Indeed they are splendid company dear @tengolotodo
Thank you so much @thetimetravelerz , the hardest thing is taking time out to enjoy nature. Yet the rewards we get are priceless!
I love all the fluffy butts! You got some great shots at the wee sea.
hehe thank you, I was lucky the sun shone so bright, it really helped with some of the pics.
That is by far the fluffiest butt that I have ever seen!
As they get a little older they turn a very light shade of tan, I didn't realize that. The pictures you've in your post are stunning. the one with the young one hitchen a ride is precious.
Wonderful post, good luck in the contest.
Ah yes, I often show swans as they grow. They go tan and when they are youngsters it is tan and white, I call it their camouflage stage!
They are cute though when they hitch a ride lol
Aaaahhh! So much cuteness! And I bet that one on his mama's back has the softest, comfiest ride EVAR! The baby mallards are adorable as well. All we have in the ponds near me are turtles. Sorta cute, but not nearly as flufftastic! Thank you for sharing. 💜

The baby mallards were cute but they were older than the wee cygnets otherwise they would have had the fluffy title I am sure hehe.
Oh turtles, really! So they would be turtletastic!
Wow amazing picture
