Choosing a pet

Choosing a rabbit as a pet can be a great decision for those seeking an adorable, low-maintenance companion with a unique personality. Yesterday I accompanied one of my friends to buy a new pet as the one she had was given to her mom for companionship.

She previously had a dog and decided to go for a rabbit this time. I asked her why she preferred a rabbit to a dog and she said it was an adorable companion plus it has a unique personality. Her reason for wanting a rabbit sat fine with me as I couldn't wait to see what color she'd pick.

On getting to the farm where the rabbits were bred, we met different kinds, I was scared of it because once I placed my hands on one, it was vibrating tremendously and that scared me enough to not want to touch it anymore even though the farmer made it clear that rabbits only vibrate when they're scared.

I did learn a lot about rabbits but I don't think I'd want to own one except I'm given the type that lured Alice to wonderland hahaha.

By the way, I learned a lot about rabbit maintenance and I was glad I was able to join her in her search for a new pet. Acquiring knowledge is very good for every human.

Here are the few things I learnt or should I say things to look out for before choosing a rabbit as your pet;

It's good to look out for the lifestyle compatibility of rabbits as they are social animals that require a lot of attention and care. If you have a busy lifestyle and cannot commit to spending time with your pet rabbit every day, a rabbit may not be the best choice for you.

Another thing is space. Rabbits need a lot of space to move around. They should be kept in a spacious enclosure that allows them to hop around freely. If you live in a small apartment or do not have a dedicated space for a rabbit, you may need to reconsider getting one.

Their diets are also very important as they require a specific diet that includes hay, fresh vegetables, carrots and a teeny tiny bit of pellets.

In every aspect of all living things, health care is really important and rabbits are no exceptions. Rabbits require regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations and of course dental care even when I bet my friend has not gone for dental care in years she'll definitely be taking this rabbit promptly for dental care😂.

Amongst all that was listed to me yesterday which I jotted down in my Google docs, the point I love more is their temperament. I didn't know rabbits also have temperaments. Haha. Rabbits indeed have individual personalities and can vary in their behaviors. Some rabbits may be more active and playful which was very clear to me while looking at some of them. Meanwhile others may be more relaxed and calm. My friend went for the calm one at the end of the day because she's a calm person too. It is very important to choose a rabbit that fits your personality and lifestyle.

I may consider owning a rabbit too sometime in the near future when I'm less busy and have time to care for them as I would a baby.

I did love her choice of color at the end of the day(white) but is there a pink rabbit? I would love that one🥰.
