Wednesday Walk some new art by the port

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

Sorry I didnt comment on last weeks walk post, sittign on my computer chair with my lehgs hanging down seemed to iritate the little toe I bashed so I was hardly onthe PC for a few days, this week I will try and comment on allthe walk posts :)

speaking of my toe, its doing better, still painful at times to walk, but am back to gettign 10K steps at least before breakfast each day, not exactly comfortable to do but I am stubborn at times :)

This weeks post i am sharing some shots of new art installed down by the port I saw just the other day, I am pretty sure they were just installed and not sure if their official posted about yet as I couldnt find anything about them online yet.

well not much should I say

the theme of this year's walk is "Revolution/Evolution," inviting artists to explore how New Bedford continually reshaped itself through resistance, innovation and contributions from those whose stories have been overlooked.

The contributing artists come from everywhere, including two from New Bedford and three from other locations in New England, There is one artist from Chicago, Mays Bird-Murphy, who has worked with students from Our Sister's School on a piece called Changemakers Club. Other artists include Brooke Doherty, Manny Fraser, Ed McAloon and Jill Strait."

And these firts shots are of the changemakers club Piece, which I thought was pretty cool

To be honest taking photos of these in the early morning without much light is probably not the best time of day to do it, but hey thats when I was there, so sharing them

They have an affirmation box, with note paper and these instructions

Write a kind note, for yourself someone else, or the whole commuity
Take it with you or leave it in the affirmation box to uplift others later

and one more shot of it

this next piece is Mary "Polly" Johnsons, herb garden quilt mural

I looked up the name and found
Mary J. “Polly” Johnson (1784-1871) was one of the preeminent abolitionists and confectioners in nineteenth-century New Bedford.

Next up is this piece entitled Weaving a community

Next up is a piece about Dr Marie Equi, who I belive was a Doctor she was born in 1872 and was dedicated to the expansion of women's reproductive choices, including access to birth control and abortion

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

You know I love seeing art, and this walk has been more than spectacular, with lots of colour, creativity and originality, different art that catches the eye, like that place with books. I love it!!!! I'm glad your finger is better, and don't worry about commenting, your health comes first. Thank you for this great and beautiful walk!!!🤗

THanks, I do love the art they have here
today I must have slept badly my toe was playing up, but still got my steps in
and thinking about something i said yesterday I was thinking of another fire, had missed the news, that fire inthe assisted livign place in Fall river was horrible, and sadly seems inadequate staff and lack of training led to it being worse than it should have been

Yeah, it was sad to read about. There have been some crazy fires all over lately. Along with the floods it almost feels like the end of the world is here!

OHh yeah sure has been crazy of recent, just in fall river they had another couple of bigger fires but luckily those did not have any casualties and the flooding in Texas was horrific to watch online

Wow, amazing art, this is really beautiful ohh
I love art but there are no such places around me and so I only see them on screens. If it were me, I would have snapped with it as background. But tbh these are really nice and beautiful

Hello dear friend @tattoodjay, how are you?

Such beautiful works of art on the streets beautify the city.

It's a shame the pain in your finger persists. I hope it gets better soon and you can walk without discomfort.

Excellent shots.

Have a beautiful day.

That walk in library is something else! Amazing idea!

Here in my town on my walks I have noticed a lot of people create a little wooden box for book sharing, I might start putting books in there and picking up one to read!

A tech idea I just had.. would be cool if each box could scan the ISBN number and report what books are in each location and if they are checked out.. hmmm... might be a good project for a Pi network!

Aren't we all stubborn at times. Good to hear your toe is healing though. Take it easy… slowly and steady.

Great captures of the colours of the arch. The art installations are pretty cool.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
