Wednesday Walk Destruction Brook trail

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)

Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

Well I did not get out for a walk with my camera this past week, well to be honest didn't really get out for much of a walk at all, I did one day while waiting for my grand daughter to get out of school try and do my normal walk down to the beach, but got about half way there and realized it would be uphill walking back and I was already tired walking down so turned around realizing my Dr and Wife were right it may take some time for the iron tablets to kick in and my energy levels to pick back up.

Well I prepared this post on the weekend and did actually get out for a short walk yesterday the first one for two weeks, but I haven't got the photos of my Camera yet so sharing an older walk

So today I am sharing shots of A walk I took last year and don't think I ever shared a post from this park, it is called Destruction brook Trails

Destruction Brook Woods is DNRT’s largest Reserve and offers a variety of walks along what remains of the old Duff estate’s bridle paths. The 280-acre property was purchased in 2000 by DNRT and The Trustees of Reservations. (The Trustees subsequently transferred their ownership interest to DNRT.) The Trustees and the Town of Dartmouth co-hold a conservation restriction on the Reserve, and the Dartmouth Conservation Commission owns an adjoining 44-acre parcel at the north end of the property.

The property includes miles of walking trails, mature woodlands that include American Beech and Atlantic White Cedar, unusual rock ledges covered with many interesting ferns and lichens, and Destruction Brook itself, once a major source of power for the mills of Russell’s Mills.

Reading the description of the place I came to realize I must have only explored a small part of it and will be visiting it again this year

the trails I too were nice and flat and clear, could hear birds singing in the trees and I did spot a deer in the woods at one stage, it was a beautiful and refreshing walk

Weekly giveaway of shares

This week I am sending to the following who joined Wednesday Walk, for this week I did a random draw and the following each received some Hive @pablo1601, @jelenaa, @ridwanms, @zorili91 and deska89

And @elizacheng will send to @jordy0827

As @elizacheng and I collaborated with our Wednesday Walk and Make me Smile Challenges

And one person is randomly drawn who joins both challenges to receive one Hive from me and this week it is @TBA

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

Make me Smile Collaboration

As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,

Here are the rules for her challenge

Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem, drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.
b. Your content must be ORIGINAL CONTENT
c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Absolutely beautiful! I like the fact that they took the old horse trails and they made them paths that people can walk on now. Repurposed land like that is so great! I think I finally finalized some plans to make it out East this year. It doesn't look like we will be making it as far as you, but at least a little ways out there. I am super excited.

Hello dear friend @tattoodjay good day
The walks are very good as long as you do not have to make an effort and exhaust all your energy, you do very well to walk small sections and not exert yourself
What a beautiful place, I would love to walk in an environment like this
Get well soon

That’s a shame you couldn’t get out more for walks @tattoodjay, hope the pills work and your fitness returns.
I have been so busy tiling for the in-laws the last 2 weeks… the only break I had over Easter was the walk I shared today. I haven’t even been able to post for a while.
Hope you enjoy this walk as much as I did.

I have a walk planned around town with the little ones this afternoon so hopefully it will be warm and blue by then for the post.

I really need to create the time to walk in the nature around this place and not limit that to the dog park. Oh and golf has opened up here so I should get some green walks soon too!

Love the nature walk and the ponds. Here’s to the return of energy and the happy lifestyle it will bring you old friend.

The green, green trees and the root beer colored falls remind me of northern Minnesota. We didn't get up north nearly enough when we lived in Minneapolis 🙁 Nice shots. Here's to getting you out for a nice walk next week 🍻

Destruction Brook Trail is a magical place, it reminds me of the ecological reserves of Buenos Aires. I hope your recovery progresses quickly so you can visit it again and show us other parts of the park.

Great pictures of course @tattoodjay 🙏🏻✨

Absolutely beautiful pictures on your post. That looks like an amazing place to walk, all the greenery and the water am guessing the air was fresh and amazing. Wishing you a quick recovery and lots of energy that you will be able to go out and capture more images like these. Keep following the doctor's guidance and all will be fine. Am sure he/she has seen many patients just like you.
Thank you so much for sharing and keep enjoying your week :}

How cool! That is not your average walk, but on that quite beautiful. I actually know where Alice's Spillway is! ( I had cousins in Dartmouth) I think my mother's big French family was related to everyone in and around Providence and the Massachusetts seaboard. Anyway...

The spillway was used to store water for Allen's Mill, which is an old grist mill, used from somewhere around 1711 to the 1950s. There was talk about it being used from the 1670s, but talk is cheap, so I am not sure if that is a tall tale or the truth. The millstones were used for grinding corn, wheat, and rye. Not far from there is the foundation of an old homestead and a cemetery, in the middle of the woods. It even had a gate on it. :) It is a family cemetery with a few headstones in it. Maybe more are buried there?

Anyway, this was a beautiful walk and you captured the essence of this area. New England is full of history and natural beauty. I am so happy to see you exploring it. If you go back again, there is a parking lot on Slades Corner Rd. There is another one also, but I don't know the street name.

Thank you for taking us on such a fabulous walk! The pictures are gorgeous! I never did find out why it is called Alicees Spillway, but, it was owned by Allen Russel - remember the mill? Maybe it was one of his children.
