Wednesday Walk a walk the other day

a walk the other day

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge

Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

I did promise to share the podcast I was invited on when it was published, and here it is

I have found my body is finding it hard to recover after my most recent surgery; I guess it's to be expected with three surgeries in the same area in less than 2 years, but slowly building up.

I have been feeling the cold so much more in my hands and feet, but again that's to be expected, as from prior to the first surgery to now I have lost over 60 pounds, and that's not a bad thing; I am in a healthy weight range and quite slim for the most part.

But focusing on the positive, firstly, at least my time in the hospital was a lot shorter this last time out in 4 days, unlike the 4 weeks the first time ;).

And I did get out for a nice walk on Monday morning, which I will share some photos from that walk today.

It was a short ish walk for me, but I did get about 4K steps in for me, which is the most of recent, and glad I kept it short as I did feel worn out later in the day, but its a good start and will build up.

BUt lets get to the walk

I headed out a bit later than I normally would, as I wasn't expecting much in the way of sunrise colors, but boy was I wrong. I headed to the port initially and got this photo of the nice sunrise colors.

As I said, I wasn't expecting much in the way of sunrise, and my plan was to head into the historic district as there were a couple of things I wanted to get photos of. As I walked that way, I passed Jonathon Sprouts, which has just opened recently.

One of the things I wanted to see was a new Sculpture only recenly unveiled, which is Melville and Jonah's Journey" honoring Moby-Dick author Herman Melville.

Sculpted by New York-based artist Stefanie Rocknak. and it Stands 7.5 feet tall in bronze with a greenish-gray patina designed to evoke the sea.

the detail in the sculpture is awesome

and the other thing I wanted to get a photo of was this mural. I realised recently I had taken photos of the street it is on showing part of the mural, but never captured the full mural

This vibrant mural is the "Jazz Wall" created by artist Kat Knutsen in 2020 and is a tribute to local jazz legends, featuring musicians like Rick Britto, Armsted Christian, Paul Gonsalves, Bobby Greene, Herbie King, and Joe Livramento.

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Wow, the detail in that statue is pretty awesome. I am sorry to hear recovery from your surgery has been rough. I hope things get better. I'm a big fan of jazz music, so that mural is pretty awesome.

Good luck with that. I was down in Detroit with my wife's mom last night. We got home from the hospital around 11PM, so I am dragging today!

Hello, dear friend @tattoodjay, how are you?

I'm so sorry to hear about everything you're going through; I hope you recover soon from your recent surgery. I think it's normal that, after several surgeries in the same area, the body takes longer to heal.

It's great that you were able to go for a walk and had the chance to take these beautiful photos.

Beautiful mural.

Have a wonderful day.

Having so many operations in the same area leaves you very weak and makes it hard to recover, but I hope you’ll do really well and be back to your best in no time. Look after yourself properly!!

The first photo with that beautiful sky is my favourite. What a lovely walk!
