The paths we take

Every day is a quiet intersection of the roads we didn't take and the paths we chose to walk. We spend a lifetime wondering what if, looking back at the sudden turns, the hesitation at the crossroads, and the moments where a single decision tilted the axis of our world. But the beauty of a journey isn't found in a flawless map; it’s found in the courage to keep moving forward, even when the fog rolls in, and the destination is entirely unknown.

When thinking about recent events and how a simple choice here and there we make in our lives can have such a big impact, lead to the into this post and the photos I will share today, which, to me all related to the title The Path We Take

These are all photos from fairly recent walks, mostly here in New Bedford, MA.

Starting with this photo, which shows the covered pergola walkway at Custom House Square (officially the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Plaza) in downtown, I often walk by it when I am downtown, but not so often take photos, as a few homeless people sleep there, and I do not want to disturb them.
Not that I am worried they will bother me, I have had some of them call out good morning or ask what I am doing, but never in a bothersome way.
But thinking of them and the circumstances and life choices which have brought them to having to sleep there was a factor in this post and my thoughts.

And these Belgian block streets and brick buildings built when New Bedford was the richest city inthe world is such a contrast.

Oh wow, that really is a great spot in the gardens for the last photo there. I can just imagine how many couples have had their photos taken near that tree on the left!

Hello, dear friend @tattoodjay.

Life is a constant series of decisions. And every path we take has a consequence.

What beautiful photographs! You could spend hours sitting there, admiring the stunning scenery.

Have a great day.

Good day, Mr. @tattoodjay.

You live in a truly beautiful place; you have many lovely spots to visit and hike.

The photos you share are gorgeous; I especially love the first and the last ones.

Great photography as usual 👍 I think anyone who has done street photography in a town of a certain size or bigger has seen and encountered the homeless. I have. And my experiences and I think most peoples experiences are as you describe. It is a tragedy.

On another note, since Robert Frost was a Vermonter, here is A Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

... how a simple choice here and there... can have such a big impact...

It has long been my contention that we are to be found at any moment in our existence due mostly to the sum total of all the many choices we have made upon our way to that point of which we find ourselves.

I love that second to the last picture, the morning blue at it's finest. The paths we choose in life are one way only as a general rule. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's bad. How have you been holding up?
