Some street Art

The other day I went and met up with someone who had contacted me on Facebook about an upcoming project. I am still working out the details on that, so I will just leave it at that, but I agreed to meet with him and go on a photo walk to chat.

He lives in an Area of New Bedford I had not been to before, so it was a good chance to check out a new area.

The walk took us past some more of the docks here in New Bedford that I didn't know existed and along the way I saw some cool street art and murals, which will be the focus of today's post.

Before even leaving his apartment complex, which happened to be old Industrial mills converted into apartments, in the car park I saw someone had been doing some chalk art in the car park.

Including this ice cream, when I started the walk it was a bit coolish so I had a jacket on, by the end of an almost 2 hour walk it had heated up and I was sweating away in my jacket and could have appreciated an ice cream.

And near to it, this one is simple but true: we all need to be grateful for what we have.

From his apartment building, we walked along Herman Melville Blvd here in New Bedford.
And we passed this Mural by an artist who goes by the tag of tombobNYC. He is originally from New Bedford and has done a few pieces around the city, and I had seen online this one, but the info told me it was in another area, and I had looked there and couldn't find it, so I was happy to see it on this walk.

His work often incorporates things that are there, such as the crabs in this one

We passed by these train wagons and the colors caught my eye

and I then came across a mural on the side of and I hope I got the spelling right as I didn't take a photo of the front of it the La Esquinita Boricua Mini Mart

It's a mural by artist David Ortiz, who in the art world, he goes by Primitivo, and the mural is celebrating Puerto Rican Heritage

The interesting story about this I remember reading recently is that midway through the project, some people stole all his art supplies, and when the community heard about that, they quickly chipped in and got him all he needed to finish it off

Not this is the full Mural, and I messed it up a bit, because there was a Portable Toilet and a wooden pole blocking off parts of the mural, and when I edited them out in photoshop, what was behind them may well I am sure it did got messed up

It is beside a Fried Chicken place, but I didn't catch the name of it but they did have this cool art on the wall
