Some of the commercial fishing fleet in New Bedford, MA
Good morning, and I hope your week is going well. Summer seems to be easing off, and temps are cooler at the moment. I hope it doesn't drop too much, and I can still get plenty of early morning walks in before it gets too cold for me in the mornings.
Today I will share a few photos of some of the commercial fishing fleet here in New Bedford.
Starting with this one, when I was lucky enough to have some nice sunrise colors during a walk at the port.
The Boat Hunter, I believe, is a scallop boat which drag heavy metal-ringed net bags (known as "dredges") to harvest wild Atlantic sea scallops from sandy seabed habitats

I am no expert of the boats at all, so I could well be wrong, so feel free to correct me if I am, but this could be another scalloping boat.
My guess is based on that scalloping is the biggest fishing venture here, from what I have read
for example i found this online
Sea Scallops: This high-value shellfish drives the port's top ranking as the most lucrative fishing port in the United States.
Groundfish: The fleet harvests traditional groundfish species including cod, haddock, flounder, and pollock.
Other Species: Additional commercial fisheries landed in the port include deep-sea red crab, ocean quahogs/deep-sea clams, lobster, and herring

Now, for that last photo, I had another dilemma between sharing color or B&W so I shared both

And more boats on a morning where the water was fairly still, not still enough for mirror-like reflections however.

And some more on another morning where there were some nice sunrise colors

All that rigging looks like such a hot mess! I'd be so confused if I had to work on one of those! Great shots as always!
OHH yes I would be the same, but i guess those working on them know what its all about

Nice colors in the reflections of the boats. I kind of like a little ripple in the reflections. Gives them a softness like impressionalist paintings.
