a few sights around Buttonwood Park New Bedford MA

Good Morning and have a great day

Now what I start with may seem strange but bare with me lOL

One of my favorite places to walk here in New Bedford is Buttonwood Park and let me tell you a little about it

Buttonwood Park Historic District is a historic district on Kempton Street, Rockdale Avenue, Hawthorne Street and Brownell Avenue in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Its focal point is Buttonwood Park, a 97-acre (39 ha) municipal park planned by Charles Eliot in the 1890s, and part of its surrounding neighborhood.

Charles Eliot (1859–1897) was a pioneering American landscape architect and key partner in the Olmsted firm who shaped Boston's Metropolitan Park System. He famously protected natural landscapes and championed regional park planning, designing major reservations, urban parks, and parkways that redefined public access to nature

Many here describe the park as the jewel of the city and I do agree it truly is.

NOw the odd bit, I seldom go there for walks, mainly because its best visited during the day and most of my walks are early morning around sunrise, I seldom go out for day time walks but this is a spot I do visit when I get out during the day

My favorite feature there is the pond, here I am looking over it from near where I park my car when I visit there

Great shots! Is there a path along the stream for a bit or is it mostly just closed off?

It is a pretty park he designed, and it's nice that someone in his day and age had the foresight to create those open natural spaces before the city sprawled. I can see why you visit infrequently though, the beach gives nicer sunrise and morning blues!
