The Legion Go S
Something a bit different today, still fitting for my Fun Friday posts, possibly also could fit for a market Friday post
I in the past haven't been a big gamer. I have been and still am a bit of a gadget geek, and like the look and idea of gaming consoles and have bought Xboxes and PlayStations, but I never really got into playing on them much.
Well the exception for a while was the Fr Cry Games I did enjoy those and did a few of the series
I also did well still do have a switch, but never got into that so much either, played for it a bit when I got it, but it didnt last
But for the most part they only get used by the grandkids sometimes when they visit.
Now I saw that the Legion Go S was on sale for black Friday and decided to get one, I went for the version with
AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme - SteamOS - 32GB with 1TB SSD - Steam
so I have had it for a while now and do I use it, Yes, a part of why I didnt play onthe consoles so much was the one downstairs is connected to our TV, so I can only play games on it when the wife isnt watching TV, and the one upstaiirs connected to my PC monitor, and I just do not get around to going up settign it up and gaming.
PLus playing games with the console hnd helds and or the keyboard and mouse didnt work for me so much
Perhaps in part I often was trying action games, and my fingers after having all been broken at various times in my life, i am just not that destrous with them.
BUt this console I find great for a few reasons, it is sitting on a side table right beside me where I sit in the lounge, I can grab it and be playing pretty quickly, and still be with my wife sittign beside me on her chair happily watching her TV shows.
What games do I play these days
I have been playing some of the Lego Games, Mad Max, Hogwarts :Legacy and there all cool, but the one game I keep going back to is what is termed a cosy Game, chill and fun to play and not need for quick slicking of buttons.
The one I tried and m kind of addicted to is Coral Island,, but for this post I will focus more onthe console and a case I bought for it and just set up

It has an 8-inch screen and feels good in my hands not to heavy at all, for me as some have complained about that, they also complain about two other things
the battery life not being great, depending on the game one is playing it may drain the battery in a couple of hours, but for me thats not a big deal I am mostly playing at home so can haveit on charge
and the third thing is that fans are so noisy but again I havenyt really found that to be an issue, maybe it playing an intense game and setting the thing to high performance to get best frame rates it may get louder, but for me on default settings it works fine and isnt noisy
NOw as for the case i bought the Killswitch froma company called dBrand they also had a good black Friday deal and i jumped on that but they didnt ship it till Jan, which thy did indicate on website, so I waited patiently for it, and got it the other day and set it up
the deal included a deck of playing cards free and here is the box they come in

I must say I was impressed with how well the case and extras were packaged

here is is with one set of the skins installed, I did mess up the one on the left a little to the top of the joystick its a little wrinkled, I blame my fat fingers for that.
the protective case is also on in this photo, it protects the console mnicely and has a feel good feel ot it, much better than the plain console, even though before I installed it I thought the feel of the console was good enough

Bottom Line I am loving the Legion Go S, and glad I got the DBrand case skin and shell, top quality gear that protects the console well

I always game on the pc at the moment i'm playing Palworld , for me it's like reading a good book cut my self of from the real world completly for a moment.
A specially when the weather is not suited for outdoor photography .
I never got into PC gaming, and even on consoles struggled to get motivated and have fun playing them for long, but this one being able to sit on the couch and play withthe screne right in front of me in my hands seems to be working for me
I thinkI have PALworld on my wishlist on Steam

That's really cool. I have been thinking about getting a Switch for a while now, but I always manage to talk myself out of it. I tend to get immersed in games a bit too much, so it might not be good for the wife if I were to get one!
I had a switch, well still do but didnt play it much, thats why when I bought this I was thinking am I throwing away money
I find the switch games more expensive as well, but with the deals on steam games being quite good especially for the non new release games its quite affordable to try games and thus far I am having fun with it, and its been a few weeks and sure I have used it more than I did the switch in a couple of years
PS I think my wife likes that I am sitting beside her playing games rather than up in my Computer room playing computer or PS games
That is a good point. I still am not sure my wife would feel the same way. This looks like a pretty cool device. I like that it works with the Steam games as well. I already have a fair number of those in my library.
Maybe I am lucky with a wife who doesnt mind :)

That's pretty cool! It's easy to get addicted to some of those fun LEGO games. I've never tried out Coral Island, I'll have to look at it one of these days. Nice new buy!

I want to get something like this in the future. I stopped playing games so much but I often really miss being able to sit down and just do nothing and relax getting immersed in something. But yeah with the way hardware is going now and the fact that I move around a lot, I can't build a pc nor would I get a console.
It is pretty cool, even though marketed as a portable console the battery life is an issue for die hard gamers, but for me 2 or 3 hours game play if I was somewhere where I couldnt plug it in would be plenty
