Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Street art or art on the street

With a big snow storm/Blizzard heading out way starting this afternoon, looks like we may well get over 18inches of snow and winds gusting to 60MPH I thought i would go with some colorful shots today

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

I could have gone with flowers or animals again this week but wanted to do something different fot these themes this week and decided to share some of the cool art pieces around the city, most of these in the Historic District downtown New Bedford MA

This first one look like it has been there quite a while. I couldn't find out when it was painted but I did find it was created by artists WoodzArt and Paradise Motel.
Well, that's what a google search told me, but it looks more like Paradise Mcfee is the tag for the artist onthe mural

Has a Lighthouse which I of course like, and I see the face representing nature and wind but yet protecting the lighthouse from the huge octopus

This next one is on a wall of the Pour Farm Tavern here in New Bedford who apparently commissioned this work and it is done by the same artists as the first one in this post

The scene highlights New Bedford's rich history as a prominent commercial fishing and whaling port

Next up is a fairly new piece the Plastic Rooster
Created by renowned Portuguese street artist Bordalo II.
and was built using approximately 880 pounds of repurposed trash and waste materials, including car bumpers, old tires, and plastic debris.
It represents the traditional Portuguese rooster, reflecting the city's significant Portuguese heritage

and to finish off a mural commemorating the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, located at 41 William Street in New Bedford
it was added in 2015
The mural depicts the recruiting days of the famed all-Black regiment during the Civil War.
which is significant for New Bedford as they sent one of the largest contingents of recruits for the 54th Regiment, and this specific site was formerly a recruiting office.

The regiment was the first African-American regiment raised in the northern states during the Civil War.

18 inches of snow and 60 MPH winds sounds like a serious blizzard! Staying inside and sharing these vibrant colors was definitely the right move. New Bedford has such a rich "outdoor gallery" that really helps brighten up a gloomy winter day.
