Sublime and Beautiful Sunday a visit to the zoo and beyond

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

For this post I will share a few shots in buttonwood Park zoo, and a couple sort of related shots in Buttonwood Park itself

Starting off with this shot of An American Bison resting on the ground

Looking up about it I was somewhat amused to see its scientific name is Bison Bison

and some info about them

The American bison, commonly known as the American buffalo, or simply buffalo (not to be confused with true buffalo), is a species of bison that is endemic (or native) to North America. Its historical range circa 9000 BC is referred to as the great bison belt, a tract of rich grassland spanning from Alaska south to the Gulf of Mexico, and east to the Atlantic Seaboard (nearly to the Atlantic tidewater in some areas), as far north as New York, south to Georgia, and according to some sources, further south to northern Florida, with sightings in North Carolina near Buffalo Ford on the Catawba River as late as 1750

They live for 15-20 years and sadly and classifies as Near Threatened ie they may be considered threatened with extinction in the near future

Next up is a white tailed deer
They also live for around 15 to 20 years and are found in Southern Canada through most of the U.S. and Mexico to northern South America (Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, northern Brazil, Venezuela, and the Guianas). They are absent from much of southwestern United States.

Now is the beyond part, one day after visiting the zoo I was strolling around Buttonwood Park and walking by a small pond in the trees and spotted these turtles

last time i saw them someone came running by making noise and they all popped into the water, so I got this first shot then quietly walk around for the second shot

Hopefully the Bison will be kept in safety to populate their numbers, handsome big beast.

Photography of turtles sunning themselves they too have a unique look of tranquility perched on the rock.

Wow, the bison looks so chill just resting there 😅 I’ve only seen them in documentaries, so it’s cool seeing your shots up close.

Bisons are cute animals despite their dominant appearance. If I could have one, I guess I would be sleeping with it LOL they are very cute. I hope they wont get extinct in the future and still live longer. The photos of deer and turtles are uniquely captured. I love how the photo is taken with empathy and intention.
