More Light painting

More Light painting

Good Morning

Today I will keep with my Fun Friday posts and this week it is back to light painting which I have bene having a lot of fun doing

So what is light painting let me try to explain, actually let me cheat and copy and paste how I explained it in a previous post and was happy with it lOL

Light painting is basically photography’s rebellious cousin who skipped art school and went straight to rave school. Instead of brushes and canvas, you use flashlights, sparklers, glow sticks, or anything that creates light
You set your camera on a tripod, open the shutter for a few seconds or minutes, and then whoosh, you draw in the air with light. The camera sees all the glowing trails and goes, “Oh, cool, I’ll just record that like it’s normal.” And voilà—you’ve got a photo that hopefully you think is cool .

It’s like finger painting, but for grown-ups who still believe in magic and own more lenses than socks.

Now let me start off by saying I am not a great light painter, I see work by others online and know I have a lot to work on and improve.
But one bit of advise I give to new photographers I just gave to myself, when starting out don't get stuck comparing yourself with other photographers you see online and think your not doing well, instead compare the photos you took today with ones you took a week a month or a year ago and see if your happy with the improvements you have made :)

Sure look at others work for inspiration but not to beat yourself up :)

With that all said here are some recent ones I have done

and you may wonder why NBMA, well it stands for New Bedford MA where I live and i see it on many caps t-shirts and bumper stickers so I thought why not try light painting it

NOw I often say I am no artist, and cant even draw a stick figure and it seems thats the case with light painting, my feebl attempt at a stick figure

Those turned out really well. For the first one since there is nothing connecting the letters did you have to take like four shots and then edit them together?

thats how I started, you can hang a torch from a string and have the camera underneath and swing the torch and let it go and make spirograph like images

I love the stick figure and the boat, very well done. Spelling out NBMA came out great too. That fourth one is really cool, kind of ghostly in the distance with the letter J! Looks like a lot of fun!

How's the health treating you?
