Monochrome Monday a few shots from recent walks

Monochrome Monday a few shots from recent walks

I had the post prepared and perhaps sharing MONO images is kind of somber and appropriate for today being Memorial today

But I decided to add this first photo and these thoughts for the day

To the brave souls who never came home, thank you, the debt of gratitude will never be forgotten
Remember them this memorial day

I hope your weekend went well and wishing you a good week ahead.
I am starting the week as I tend to do by sharing a few Monochrome Photos from recent walks.

I was just thinking I am not sure I have ever discussed how I go about choosing photos to edit in mono, and for the most part I am not sure I have a deep thought process, just when I come to a photo and are ready to edit it, sometimes my mind clicks try this in MOnochrome.

But thinking about it more this morning I said to myself, myself I said :)

What is it about the photos that make smy brain tell me to try a Monochrome edit and this is what I came up with

I fele a lot to do with it is if the photo has strong contrasts, intricate textures, and interesting and or compelling geometry thats what draws me to try monochrome editing. Stripping away color forces the viewer to focus on light, shadow, and form rather than being distracted by a messy over overwhelming color palette.

And this first shot of the old Bridge out to Popes Island here in New Bedford is a good example of that

and for this next shot in color the eyes would be drawn to the color sin the tree and or sky, and yet I think the belgian block streets are the real start of this shot and in color they dont grab the eye as much as I fele they should

and this next one may perhaps go against what I am saying a little, what caught me was the shape of the tree but in color it sort of faded into the background so I tried a Mono edit and here it is

What caught my eye was the way the metal ramp coming off the pier was catching the light from the restaurant off to the right and not in shot, but when I tried editing it in color, it sort of faded into everything else, so I came up with this

And that’s all folks

What a beautiful view. And you also took some great shots at the intersection, which look so cool and graceful.

Great shots! I went on a small walk today, but I was so busy talking to my friend that I didn't even think to take any photos. I hope you had a great memorial weekend.
