Mono Monday the Ernistina Morrisey

Mono Monday the Ernistina Morrisey

Good morning another week begins may it be a good one for you

in Last Fridays Market Friday post here I shared some photos of the Schooner the Ernistina Morrisey a grand old ship and I took a bunch of photos of it.
I thought it warranted editing some of them in Mono which I feel gives a timeless kind of feel which seemed fitting for this ship.

the schooner Ernestina-Morrissey, was built in 1894 at the James and Tarr Shipyard for the Gloucester fishing fleet. Under Captain Bob Bartlett she sailed to within 600 miles of the North Pole,

Which I always think is pretty impressive back in those days in such a ship and without modern technology.

It was later brought immigrants to the U.S. under the power of sail. Returned to the US in 1982 as a gift from the newly independent Cape Verdean people, she sailed as an educator until 2005.
She is primarily docked in New Bedford I believe but is currently in Texas for a Tall ships event

The guy in the small dinghy at the front of the boat gives a sense of its size.

As it pulled put from the docks and was preparing to head out through the hurricane barrier wall gap to open waters

After leaving the port area heading out to the open waters, it got to this spot and I was hoping it would raise its sails and sail away but it sat at this spot for ages and I eventually gave up and headed home

Performance in mono just brings this Schooner even closer to the times of her youth!

Your photos in color are very good, and the decision to present them in black and white is great!

THanks I think the Mono images give the ship the style and class it deserves

That is quite a beautiful ship! We have an annual tall ships even near where I live too. You often see them floating around in the Great Lakes. Usually off in the distance. Great shots! I hope you are still recovering well from your issues.

Oh yah those black & white shots do add a timeless feel. If it were not for the modern high resolution, you could easily be back a hundred years.

Love those old ships and all the sailing we did up until a few years ago. Brings me back.

Excellent capture! I'm a big fan of B/W. You can say things through it that you cannot in color!! Great work! 😊👌❤
