Market Friday the Whaling City Festival

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I am back at the Whaling City Festival following on from this post which was mainly focused on food stalls, this post focuses on the rides

Starting with this shot from the field in Buttonwood park looking at the fair, I had planned to go and get some night shot long exposures which I thought would have bene cool, but I found out this fair closes before dark, apparently because of some incidents at night in previous times the fair took place, so your stuck with more early morning shots before the fair opens

Off course I couldn't resist a shot looking up at the Ferris wheel, trying to remember the last time I rode a Ferris Wheel I think it was the EYE in London many years ago

The Top gun and Thunder Bolt rides, I know some love the rides at a fair/Carnival, I have never been a big one for the rides like these, well not to ride but I do like watching them

Everyone has memories of the carnival. At least old guys like me. I always liked the midway with the games and the barkers. Nice photos Tattoodjay. Happy Friday!

I never tried to ride a carousel. It seems like it's just for kids. And the ferris wheel? Omoooo that looks big! Is it moving real fast??

yes Carousels are more for children, and no the Ferris wheel moves at a reasonably slow speed

Good thing the ferris wheel moves on a slow speed. I recall a moment when I rode a Ferris wheel in a carnival. It was really fast and I ended up puking all the food I ate. 😄😁😫

never again... ahhaahha

So cool to see some of the rides today @tattoodjay 😊😎
The Ferris wheel shots are great. Who doesn’t like seeing them, as they remind one at childhood.
I wouldn’t go in there now though hehehe 🤭 I don’t like heights.

Thanks for sharing more from this fair. Happy Friday 👋🏻😊☀️

I recently walked around a similar amusement park early in the morning. And there were no visitors.

I never went to many carnivals as a kid, but, I have always been fascinated by the Ferris wheels and some of the other rides. Now, more to take pictures, like the Ferris wheel. Such a cool shot and I love the perspective of the others. All of your pictures are good, so you may not understand this, but, it is not easy to get the proper angle and have it look right.

It is so much nicer when it is empty like this!

The Thunderbolt looks like it might be a fast little ride. I have always loved the carousel, especially since there are many throughout our country that are in the older sections of the town squares, even on in downtown Washington, DC.

These are wonderful shots. You have got the golden touch. Thank you! I had fun and next time, I will go when it is closed!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

That is why my parents didn't bring us. :) That and they thought the places were a little sketchy, people living a vagabond lifestyle. Ha! :)

You may not ride them, but, you make them work for you!!

Thanks again and I hope you have a great night!

I like Ferris wheels... I tried it once, and it goes up and down. It is fun when you're on top and then you slowly descend. I never chanced being stopped while the wheel is right at 45 degree angle facing nothing! I wonder how that would be!
