Market Friday the natural History museum NYC

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, like my Wednesday Walk, its a Way back market Friday from a visit to the Natural History Museum in NYC back in 2019, it is a really impressive museum and well worth checking out if you ever visit NYC, especially on a cold day when you want to get inside for a bit and warm up

These sots are from an area of the Museum where they had these panels with displays of animals in various parts of the world
I even sure what this bird is now its been so long since I was there, looks kind of prehistoric

But my initial thought was it is an EMU and could well be

These aren't the best of shots, it was very dark in this area, and the camera I had back then did not cope as well in Low light or at high ISO as my current camera does

That said this next one at an ISO of 5000 of these animals looking over the plains hasnt come out to bad

And next we have white sheep with white Mountains in the background

This display of the Bear family I really liked even if there is a bit of a reflection off the glass

And another display of Bears

I havent had a beer for maybe a few years now, but maybe subliminally I am thinking or missing having a beer, as till I fixed it now I typed beer instead of bear

Animals always fascinating to see, bears and bison particularly interesting as is that large bird.

Photography through glass always a problem with reflection you seemed to get the hang of it along the way.

This was one of my favorite parts of that museum when we visited. I remember the wait in line was so long, but it was so worth walking through and seeing all of the cool stuff. I think that was the same time they had the Egyptian temple rebuilt in one of the museums. It was really cool!

I do remember seeing the temple exhibit but forget where i saw it

I think it was either this museum or the one right near it. It might have been one of the art ones.

Buffaloes. I wonder seeing them for real.. they are just so strong animals… and the bears too. I never get to see one before.

Nice Captures.

Indeed would be cool to see in the wild, from a safe distance of course

Yeah. Safe distance is much more necessary 😆

Fun photos. I have never been to the NY Museum of Nature History. Chicago has a nice one I have visited a few times but not for several years. Happy Friday 🙂

It's a good thing that big emu was already stuffed, because it looks like it'd be quite ready to hunt you down for a snack, too!

Never been to New York, and that museum features beautiful photos, or some of those are paintings?

People who can paint such realistic scenes and animals always amaze me! That is pretty funny about the bear/beer mix-up. Maybe it’s time you had a beer!

It is a great place to go to get out of the weather! The lines can be long, but, some days, you can get lucky!

The first picture is probably a Moa, a large flightless bird that lived in New Zealand. It was hunted to extinction a gazillion years ago. I say that because it is a history museum, but, so much has changed, I could be wrong.

I used to have a lot of trouble in the low light, and sometimes still have a bit, but, you are right, the new cameras are pretty amazing.

You really got out and saw the entire city for sure. I truly love where your photography has gone since you have moved, but, there are parts of me that love the unique way you had of presenting subjects from the city. I am enamored with your #MarketFriday posts. Always interested with your personal twist on things. Always a unique experience! Thank you!

Don't miss the small things in your life, they usually make no noise but can be indicators of bigger things. I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. It is important for a community to do this, learning about others, and getting to know each other. The fun is in getting to know people and making a positive contribution to community life. All this fun and money too. What is not to love? That is one of the reasons I joined Hive. How about you? :) I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Duh now I feel so stupid, you are totally right that is a Moa and how embarrassing I did not remember that being a kiwi, I clearly had such a brainfade as I was preparing the post
