Market Friday Butterflies

Market Friday Butterflies

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I was struggling a bit to come up with an idea of what I could share today and then I came across these photos of butterflies.

Now you may be wondering how butterflies can relate to a market Friday post Well one interpretation of a market is any place you spend money at and these are in the Natural History Museum in NYC which I paid to enter

The American Museum of Natural History (abbreviated as AMNH) is a private natural history museum on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City.
It is in Theodore Roosevelt Park, across the street from Central Park, the museum complex is huge and there is so much to see it comprises 26 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, in addition to a planetarium and a library.

The museum collections contain over 34 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, human remains, and human cultural artifacts, as well as specialized collections for frozen tissue and genomic and astrophysical data, of which only a small fraction can be displayed at any given time.

The museum occupies more than 2×106 sq ft (190,000 m2). Has a full-time scientific staff of 225, sponsors over 120 special field expeditions each year, and averages about five million visits annually.

I have shared other posts from my visit there and do recommend if your visiting the city to checkout the museum, but as I said at the start this post is about one small exhibit there of butterflies.

NOw I am no expert on Butterflies so cannot say what type they are but I thought they were beautiful

These photos were taken with my iphone, I did have my camera with me, but the butterfly enclosure was so humid my camera lens was all fogged up so I couldn't get shots with it

moma butterflies-4.jpg

even with my camera lens and glasses getting all foggy in the butterfly enclosure I still enjoyed seeing them

Butterflies are very beautiful. Nice shots. We have lots of Monarchs here once the milkweed gets going.

I never thought of a museum as having butterflies. That seems like more of a zoo exhibit, but they are beautiful regardless of where they are :)

I love this museum, but especially the butterfly room! I find them pretty amazing to be surrounded by so many of them!

You know, a captive audience! LOL

The perfection of each butterfly is really eye-catching. In nature, there are so many with broken wings, worn wings, etc. These look like they stepped out of the butterfly spa. :) I am pretty terrible about identifying them, but, each one shown is stunning. I have been to the butterfly enclosure before and I have never taken pictures Never! It is true, the first time I went I didn't because of the humidity and I didn't think of my phone as I usually don't use it.

Thank you for giving me a great idea to bring out-of-town guests! I appreciate it! (Of course, I will be going to the one here!)

Thanks so much for your support!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

1.Go to any type of market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
2.Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? We like to compare prices, otherwise it is just pictures of a market!
3.Post the pictures! No out of focus ones please! Tell a little bit about the pictures that you post. Having many pictures to scroll through does not make a better post without explanation.
4.Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated) If you don't, then #MarketFriday should be your first tag
5.Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.
6.#MarketFriday post should be submitted sometime on Friday UTC
7.The post MUST be in English
8.Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it

it is such an amazing museum I loved my visits there

I almost did not take these shots I saw my camera fogging up and walked out but just as I exited I got a work email and my phone buzzed, I checked the email, then thought why not use my phone camera and went back in

While I still love my camera, I have found that the phone has had amazing capabilities.

Good morning to you! It's looking like a good weekend!

IT was rainy this morning here but the sun is out now

I will always use my camera mostly, but phone cameras are so much better these days each new generation so handy to have at times
