For this weeks post, I dug into my archives and decided to share a few shots of a visit to the American museum of natural history a few years back when I was still working in NYC. sharing shots both in and under the museum.
The American Museum of Natural History (abbreviated as AMNH) is a natural history museum on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. It is located in Theodore Roosevelt Park, across the street from Central Park.
the museum is huge, occupies more than 2×106 sq ft (190,000 m2) its full complex comprises 26 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, in addition to a planetarium and a library.
The museum collections contain over 34 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites, human remains, and human cultural artifacts, as well as specialized collections for frozen tissue and genomic and astrophysical data, of which only a small fraction can be displayed at any given time. AMNH has a full-time scientific staff of 225, sponsors over 120 special field expeditions each year, and averages about five million visits annually
Starting with this shot of this huge display of a dinosaur.

Amazing places to visit, the subway mural art steals ones heart, always enjoy seeing them, rare in our part of the world.
Ironically chatting to the family a day ago wondering if Durban Natural Science Museum is still there, boys loved the dinosaur bones when they were young lads. Big hit was the Natal Museum in Pietermaritzburg slightly inland from where we live.
I don't remember much about visiting here except for the giant dinosaur that you showed here! Awesome stuff. That subway station is really cool too. I like how they throw some flare around like that to spruce the places up. What beautiful tile work!
My first ever experience with that museum was the movie Night at the Museum. Of course, they weren't allowed to film inside, so I've never actually seen it. Some day!
Those murals really are awesome and full of detail.
Hello dear friend @tattoodjay good day
This museum is impressive, my granddaughter Abigail would have loved to visit a place like this
Beautiful shots, I appreciate that you have shared these beautiful images
Have a beautiful weekend
Looks like an awesome museum. I love the "themed" subway stops near the museum. Public works and public spaces should all have that amount of attention. If you're building it, it doesn't take that much more to make it special.
Looks like a really cool museum. I really love the mosaic mural on the subway wall, it's stunning.
Absolutely beautiful pictures JJ, life on earth must have been interesting in the age of the dinosaurs and dragons. Nature most definitely worked well, am imagining clean rivers, lush vegetation and lots of fresh air, until human beings appeared and started messing it all up.
Anyways, thank you for sharing and wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead :}
