Fun Friday Light Painting at the Fort

Good Morning, I hope your week is goign well, just have to get through today and the weekend will be upon us, funny how I still say that when I am retired and apart from if we have appointments every day is the weekend for us, which is fortunate with all he snow we have had this year, if I was still working I would have had to get out early and shovel away the snow on snow days so I could get the car out and drive to work, but luckily I can just chill until the guy we pay to clear our snow turns up no ruch to go anywhere :)

So what is light painting let me try to explain, actually let me cheat and copy and paste how I explained it in a previous post and was happy with it lOL

Light painting is basically photography’s rebellious cousin who skipped art school and went straight to rave school. Instead of brushes and canvas, you use flashlights, sparklers, glow sticks, or anything that creates light
You set your camera on a tripod, open the shutter for a few seconds or minutes, and then whoosh, you draw in the air with light. The camera sees all the glowing trails and goes, “Oh, cool, I’ll just record that like it’s normal.” And voilà—you’ve got a photo that hopefully you think is cool .

It’s like finger painting, but for grown-ups who still believe in magic and own more lenses than socks.

All the shots I share today were taken on various visits to Fort Taber National Park here in New Bedford, starting with this shot by the wall of old Fort Rodman

I should explain what tools I use to do these, since I still haven't got around to taking a photo of them, over winter they have been packed up in a box waiting for spring to get them out again.

Basically I have three RGB Critter torches from a company called Ants on a melon, a weird but kind of cool name, they have released three versions of the torches, the RGB Critter, RGB Critter 2 and RGB Critter Bluetooth, and I have one of each

A couple I bought on sales, but to give an idea of the price the current version the RGB critter BT costs around US $129
and then I have bought various attacments and blades to connect to it

the torches can be programmed for different patterns of changing colors and various intervals, and the BT version you can switch the patterns and sequence on an app on the phone, the others you control with three buttons on the torch

This one I debated on whether to edit and share but went with it as it perhaps highlights a point, doing the light painting they are all long exposures for these shots I share today all over a minute, so I have the camera on a tripod which keeps the subject steady, unless you pick trees or bushes as a sugbject as I did here and its breezy they you get some blur in the bushes
