Buttonwood Park is more than just the Pond

Buttonwood Park is more than just the Pond

I have shared many posts and photos around the pond in Buttonwood park, and I will say it is perhaps my favorite spot in the park, but the park has a lot more.
a small trail in the woods, walking paths through fields, a childrens play area, gardens and the Zoo, for this post I am going to share a few shots of areas other than the pond.

Starting with shot on a bridge over a small stream in one of the wooded areas of the park

More about the park from the wikipedia page {source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttonwood_Park_Historic_District)
Buttonwood Park Historic District is a historic district on Kempton Street, Rockdale Avenue, Hawthorne Street and Brownell Avenue in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Its focal point is Buttonwood Park, a 97-acre (39 ha) municipal park planned by Charles Eliot in the 1890s, and part of its surrounding neighborhood. The neighborhood was developed in the first decades of the 20th century as a complement to the park, and contains a fine selection of Colonial Revival and Craftsman style houses

and this is an open area near the woods, it was a lovely warm day when I took this shot

One of the trails by a stream was lovely warm fall colors when I took this, I often walk through this area, you can hear tones of birds in the woods, I watchout for them but seldom see them

Nice photography of the stream, daffodils are giving different look to the edge.
The birds chirping there would be colorful water birds

Looks like a beautiful area! Wow, 1890. It is awesome that it has stood up so well over the years. I always worry about places like this disappearing due to the ever increasing expansion of humans. I am glad there are protected areas like this. Awesome photos!

A beautiful place to take a stroll! I especially am fond of the views that the daffodils and stone walls give. I guess New England will always be the best for me. The beauty of nature and the way you capture it!

And that is only because it is. As far as the US is! :)

Lovely park and photos 👍 Btw - I was listening to a history podcast and New Bedford came up several times as a whaling port.

1890 ... wow 132 years! It is fantastic that it has held up so nicely over time. I constantly fear that, because of the continued population growth, places like these may vanish. I'm delighted there are places like this that are protected. As always, you take amazing pictures!

That looks like a really nice place. I really like the small stone barrier, as well. I always appreciate architecture such as that.
