Boats in the marina on Popes Island
Boats in the marina on Popes Island
Good morning and have a great day
Today I will share a few shots of Boats in a few of the marinas on Popes Island here in New Bedford MA, Popes island is an island that is connected by a couple of bridges both to New Bedford and Fairhaven MA, and they have a few marinas there, some for private boats and some which handle commercial fishing boats.
ITs one spot i visit often a very short drive from home, well if your lucky enough to get to the island without the swing Truss Bridge opening to let boats head out then you may be stuck for 15 to 25 minutes as the bridge opens and closes
As I mostly do I got there early well before the sunrise, did some light painting then strolled around as there got more light for these shots I will share today
Starting with this shot while it was still fairly dark, of these commercial fishing boats in one of the docks, off tot he right of me as I took this shot, is a building which I think is where the fish and such they catch are unloaded and prepared for distribution to wherever they may go

Next up is this shot where I am walking out onto the swing truss bridge, these boats and house boat are docked at Fleet Marina dread to imagine how much that big one is worth

Still on the bridge for this next shot, showing more of the boats docked in this marina

and back at the spot where I took the first shot, with a bit more light and now that I look at it not a great shot

and this shot is of some of the boats in Popes Island Marina, the bigger marina on the island

Ooh, that's a nice little yacht there. Someone must have a lot of money or a lot of debt! Nice shots as always!
Ohh yeah, could be either for sure
Good morning, Mr. @tattoodjay

Good Morning !
I like the way the boat that has the warm glowing light inside looks. It's like the light you see in the windows of houses at night. Maybe someone was up early, having their morning coffee. :)
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
I often wonder if that light is on the time or as you say someone else is an early riser and havng a coffee

Great photos, I Connect new Bedford only with " moby Dick " Novel, so its great to see sailing and seacruising tradition its still alive there, thank you. :)
YEs indeed, funny thing is I read MOby Dick when I was a teen and never imagines I would end up living here
The atmosphere at the marina is majestic and your photos are great.
I can almost smell the fishing boats and the sea...
