Around the pond

Around the pond

Good morning all, I hope life is treating you well, for todays post I am going to share a few shots I took in Buttonwood Park here in New Bedford on a recent walk there

Starting with a shot across the pond of the warming house and the little island with a tree which I perhaps take and share too many photos of

let me tell you about the park, Buttonwood Park is described by some as the “crown jewel” of New Bedford’s parks. It’s the largest and most visited public park in the city. It’s also a historical treasure, designed by the famed architectural firm of Frederick Law Olmsted — the father of American landscape architecture.

Walk the paths. take the kids and let them have fun on the playground around the or throw some hoops on the basketball courts. Play with your dog on the Great Lawn. Relax and reflect as you rest on one of the benches, or simply enjoy the trees, flowers, and wildlife.

the day I took this walk I did walk around a good part of the park, but for this post an focusing on around the pond, I just find walking by the water is the most calming cpot for me, whether it is a beach a river or as in this case a pond

NOw I know I will show to much of the tree on the island so heres somethign different the pond has a lot of water lilies on it

I know you have visited here before, but I never actually realized just how big this park is. That is quite impressive. Beautiful shots! The little island is probably my favorite part! Is that a sign on the island? I am sure you have talked about it before, but any idea what it says?

Maybe I was just seeing things or it was further in the distance and my perspective was off.

Have you ever thought about getting a place with some sort of waterfront view? It would probably give you many hours of enjoyment :) The park really is looking nice in those!

I did consider that when moving here but waterfront views are a lot more expensive and of course also more susceptible when heavy storms of hurricanes roll in, so decided away from the water but not to far is good for us

When was the last storm that caused heavy damage???

There was one here a couple of years ago if I remember correctly, and not long before we moved here a huge storm bordering on a hurricane did a huge amount of damage along the coast where we lived before

Nice photos. Funny how somethings look so different in tight versus zoomed out. The water lilies close up is beautiful. The green and brown flotsam on the pond not the same. The wider photos are good with the greens on a pretty blue sky just the lilies are no longer the star of the shot.

Water lilies are very nice. I seldom see them in the wild; I think I have to go on nature walks. But my schedule prevents me from even visiting the nearest river, much less a body of water with water lilies. Arrrgh!!!

I think so as well but they can take over a pond and cause problems if not maintained

Hope fully with time your schedule will ease up on you a little
