A foggy Morning at West island beach Fairhaven

A foggy Morning at West island beach Fairhaven

recently I saw online about a recently discovered comet namely Comet Nishimura — discovered by Japanese amateur astronomer Hideo Nishimura on Aug. 11 which was meant to be viewable even by the naked eye just before sunrise for a few days.

and even though I knew there was going to be some clouds I hoped for a break in them to be able to see it, so I headed to West island beach in Fairhaven, as it was a spot with little light pollution ( ie man made lights) and would be a better spot to have a chance of seeing it

But alas that was not meant to be there was light clouds when I first got there but it quickly clouded over and I did not see it, but I did get a nice walk on the beach that I am sharing here

Starting with this old tower in the car park

As I was walking from the car park tot he beach for a very short time there was some nice colors in the sky

but those colors faded away quickly, heres me looking across the swamp area inland from the beach

Looking back at the tower, very foggy by this stage, I went with an oil painting style edit for this shot

NOw you make think this is a shot as the sunrise, but no its looking at the other direction back towards the car park and that light is actually a streetlight

Oh wow, yeah, I totally would have thought it was the sunrise in that one photos. Pretty crazy! It was a quite foggy morning. You can just barely make out the tower in that later shot. We had clear skies all night, I should have went out and looked for the comet.

I just look at as it wasnt meant to be I seldom do star shots anyway so maybe I would not have got a good shot of it anyway

Yeah, they can be hard without the right equipment. Some of those time lapse shots end up being pretty neat though.

yeah for sure I have done time lapse before to get the rotating star look so cool to do but as I hate standing still and prefer walking its not somehting I do often, standing for half an hour or longer waiting for all the shots you need drives me nuts LOL

Wasn't even aware of a comet. Probably wouldn't have seen it here anyway as we have too much light surrounding us to see such things in the sky unless they are real prominent. Those shots with the fog and shorelines bring back memories for me of early morning training on beaches.

Yeah to see it you need spots without much man made light, I have still been going out each morning hoping to see it but every day there have been clouds blocking any chance of seeing it

OHh me to from when I was 14 I used to bike a few miles to the beach, and then run and swim for an hour or so before heading back home, perhaps that why I love beaches even though I do not run anymore
