Wednesday Spring Walk, lots of sunshine and blue skies

Spring is upon us! Yesterday afternoon I came out of the house to get some bread, and I saw several watering machines on my small street. The machines were moving one after another, washing sand and snow off the tarmac. A crew of janitors laboured over the difficult areas. The clean, washed street shone and reflected the sun.

In spring it is difficult to think and act rationally. The bright sun washes away the winter shadows, and at the same time a decade, you feel younger and more reckless, and want to do something silly, but nice. There is no green grass or leaves on the trees yet, but if you touch the trunk of a tree with your hand, you can feel that it has already awakened from its winter hibernation.

While you are looking out the window, it seems that it is time to take out a light coat from the wardrobe and put your down jacket away for winter storage. But there's really no rush. There is an unmistakable omen: if you put your down jacket away to wash (or take it to the dry cleaner), it will immediately snow. Besides, it's not as warm as it looks, it's only +2°C or 3°C outside. If you do wear a light coat for a walk, you'll regret it at the first gust of wind.

Walking these days is spontaneous and hectic. It seems that you are going to the shop or strictly business, but suddenly you find yourself on the canal embankment and admire the smooth curves of the pedestrian bridge. Four lions hold this bridge in place, and these huge cats are full of restrained dignity and self-awareness. Afterwards, you'll be walking along, forgetting all your business - it's too good a day to stay at home!
