Snow, braziers and a garden walkway in New Holland
On this cloudy winter day, I decided to take a walk around New Holland Island. Before crossing the bridge and being on the island, I took a photo of the perspective of the Moika River. To my left is New Holland Island and to my right are residential buildings. A bright yellow ad on one of the windows tells me that the apartment is for sale. Nice location and nice view from the windows, but the price of this apartment doesn't look tempting.
The New Holland art space takes up the entire island. After crossing the bridge I find myself on a wide alley. Nearby there are braziers where you can warm your hands. On each brazier there is a warning sign: "Hot Surface", and the surface is really hot. I took a few pictures, hoping to show how the hot air rising above the brazier shakes, but it's hard to see the effect in the photos.
A little farther away is the ice rink. Now it's a break between sessions, the ice has been refreshed, and in a few minutes the skaters will begin their skating. Skating on the rink takes place by sessions, between sessions an employee on a special machine levels the ice.
From the rink, I walk towards Garden Alley. This is one of my favorite places on the island. It is especially nice to walk along this alley in summer, when the intertwined crowns of trees give good shade. Also, this alley is very beautiful in the spring when the trees are in bloom. And in winter, when trees and bushes are covered with fluffy snow.
In the XVIII century on the island of New Holland there were warehouses of ship timber, there were built barns for storing logs and workshops for shipbuilding works. These buildings have survived, they are located along the perimeter of the island and appeared as a background on many photos, they are red brick buildings with semicircular windows.
After walking around the island, I decided to walk around the neighborhood streets some more. Right opposite the bridge to the island is the Bobrinskys' palace with a small garden. Unfortunately, the garden gate is closed and you can't go inside. In the neighborhood groups in messenger told that in this garden you can sometimes see a fox. I don't know if this is true. Just in case, I look carefully through the lattice, but I don't see anyone.
Next to the Bobrinskys' palace there is a courtyard through which one can pass to the neighboring street. Most of the time the gate to the courtyard is closed, but this time I'm lucky - the way is clear. It looks like the courtyard has been recently renovated - I don't remember those benches. If my memory serves me correctly, there used to be shrubbery in this spot. I pass through the courtyard and get to Galernaya Street, a stroll along this street will be the end of my walk.

What a beautiful city, to be honest, I have never seen a brazier on the streets to warm your hands before, this is a wonderful service for the people who walk there.
The amount of snow on the streets is incredible, dear friend @tatdt. It wouldn't have been a very pleasant walk.
Beautiful photographs, thank you very much for sharing this Wednesday walking experience
Braziers have only recently started appearing in parks, and I really like this innovation! Even if you're not cold, it's still nice to warm your hands by a live fire. Thank you very much, dear friend @jlufer! Have a great week!
It really is very innovative, those who put it into practice are very creative.
Have a beautiful afternoon
Thank you very much!
