Para que un espectáculo llegue al público, un bailarín a dedicado horas, días, meses y hasta años. Se ha caido y se ha levantado, se ha lastimado y sobre el dolor ha tenido que seguir. Le ha costado a veces, tanto, aprenderse una variación al punto de soñar con los pasos.

In order for a dance performance to be presented to the audience, the dancer has devoted countless hours, days, months and even years of practice. They have fallen down and gotten back up, experienced pain and injuries, yet they have continued to push through. At times, it has been extremely difficult for them to master a particular sequence of steps, to the point where they dream about it.

En el teatro aplaudimos y nos emocionamos al final de una representación, pero pocas veces tenemos en cuenta la cantidad de trabajo que lleva crear un espectáculo.

In the theatre, we often applaud and get excited at the end of a performance, but seldom do we consider the amount of work that goes into creating a show.

Se habla muy poco de los ensayos y por desgracia es más común de lo que creen escuchar a alguien decir frases cómo;
¿cansada de que? ¿Ojalá yo tuviera un trabajo divertido como ese? ¿Pero si lo tuyo es bailar y ya?

We talk very little about rehearsals and unfortunately it is more common than you think to hear someone say phrases like:
Tired of what? I wish I had a fun job like that? But if your thing is just dancing?

Dolor en las rodillas, espalda. Subir y bajar escalones es un desafío constante por el dolor muscular de todos los días. Los dedos de los pies te laten, te arden. La música que no te sale de la cabeza ni cuando estás en casa en familia. El sudor te corre y de no ser asi crees que no lo has hecho bien.
Los ensayos son muy agotadores, reiterativos, hasta aburridos y abrumadores ( a veces) pero es ahí donde el bailarín está en su máximo esplendor. Es ahí donde nos volvemos más creativos, es ahí donde nos sentimos bailarines de verdad.

Knee and back pain. Climbing up and down steps is a constant challenge because of everyday muscle pain. Toes throbbing, burning. The music that does not leave your head even when you are at home with your family. Sweat runs down your body and if it doesn't, you think you haven't done it right.
Rehearsals are very tiring, repetitive, even boring and overwhelming (sometimes) but that is where the dancer is at its best. That's where we become more creative, that's where we feel like real dancers.

La proxima vez que veas una función, aplaude bien fuerte, porque no solo estás aplaudiendo lo que acabas de ver, sino todo los ensayos y el tiempo dedicado por ese bailarín para que tengas y disfrutes de ese momento mágico.

The next time you see a performance, clap loudly, because you are not only applauding what you have just seen, but all the rehearsals and the time dedicated by that dancer so that you can have and enjoy that magical moment.
