Standing Room Only

My wife and I were invited to an event on the weekend and had the chance to see a couple Finnish artists perform. We aren't out too often, let alone to a place where we can enjoy some live music, so it was nice to not only be there, but with the two of us being so short, also be right up the front. It wasn't a long set and I have seen her a couple times before at various gigs back in history, but it was a nice evening. A different evening.

I couldn't take my proper camera, but I took some shots with my phone which came out okay, but rather than just having them as is, I played a bit in Lightroom to give them a much flatter look. Definitely not to my usual tastes, but I think the boldness of the images lends to the atmosphere of when they were taken, so it is fitting.

The editing I normally do for myself is trying to preserve the moment in a more "true to life" form. I want to capture the moment as is, rather than create a false moment through post-editing. However, when it comes to cover images, I tend to process them in different ways, to make them stand out a little more, and give them depth and contrast. I am not great at editing, but these days the tools are pretty easy to use and in my opinion, it is far better to have a crappy image of my own, than an AI-generated image that is stolen from an algorithm that steals from other images.

I was talking with my wife on the way home from the event and she was saying how she likes to be around the artistic types, and I agree. They tend to be more interesting and also, more broadly skilled than a lot of the "professionals" in business. This is a generalisation, but it often seems to go that way. Actors who can play instruments and sing and paint, compared to business people who can... talk about their business. It is not that they don't have skills, but the skills they have are generally far less interesting to engage with.

Generalisation.

Still, a good night was had and it was definitely an experience, even though it ended a little earlier than we had planned, since we didn't go to the "afterparty" events, as the lines were too long and we couldn't skip over them.

Instead we ended back at the hotel with fast food.

Another rarity.

I'm glad you had a good time. I know you have been building up to this for a while now. I always feel like my photos don't look any better after I do processing to them. Maybe because my phone does the processing on the front end or something. Who knows. That being said, I'd like to play around with some of the editing tools more, I just don't know if it would make a difference.

The phone processing can be pretty harsh. These days, a lot of the in-camera processing is too much. It seems all made for social media on phones, rather than printing.

The event was interesting. Not my crowd for the most part, but a good experience.

I guess they probably all vary a bit.

I agree with your wife, I have great friends from the plastic and performing arts, gatherings with them are pleasant, and friendship with them is a manifestation of the nobility that is nested in each of them. Very different from what is nested in the business world dawned by hatreds, rivalry, competition, envy and disqualifications.

There is still some competition in them, but it is still in a different way, less petty or something.

It is possible that the competence, the aesthetic language is very particular and subjective to consolidate the creation, among them.

A business professional has the sheer acumen to turn the atmosphere towards them. They are mean and looks for their own advantage but not in case of artist, apart from movie actor. The real artist always try to keep everyone entertained and engage....it is interesting to learn about long queue for after party, I thought such things are common here only...😄

Common here too, but we don't go out. For this event, there was meant to be a way past the line, but there wasn't. We are too old to wait around in the pouring rain ;)

Artists or entertainers are more interesting to be around, because they do interesting things for a living. Quite different from other professionals especially academicians, who do things that are only interesting to a select few. Almost everyone craves and loves one form of entertainment or the other.

Plus they interact with people more so their social skills tend to be more developed and more effective. Comedians are usually the best of the entertainers to be around.

who do things that are only interesting to a select few.

And even when interested, they often find a way to make it uninteresting. Plus, they are often uninterested in other people, so the conversations are often one sided.

I think these photos are very interesting, love the way you worked with color on them, and definitely captured the mood of the moments. The first one in the car is stunning. A good night out!

These kinds of live shows are quite enjoyable. The last thing I remember was when I was studying at university, I used to go to different places and enjoy such live shows and it was quite enjoyable and a special night. It's great that you enjoyed it so much with your wife because spending time like this with your loved ones is really special and enjoyable.

Is that McDonalds fry box I see in the last image? :)
You wife definitely looks happy about the evening and fast food.

It has been a while since we went out somewhere like that, but wife did organize for us some local event at the Seattle Art Museum where they will pick us up and drive to the event. I think is is a premium version of the We Are Where We Eat: Seattle's Food Culture.

A sweet experience ;) I think that being close at a live performance can enhance our connection to the music and artists.
