No Bones About It

I think the museum was a success.

This wasn't a surprise trip this time and she knew we were going to a museum. All she said was,

"Hopefully it isn't just old rocks like in Croatia"

That was her only prior experience with museums - a 1500 year old foundry.

Her expectations were low.

But, once we were in there and looking around, she (and we) were pretty impressed. The dioramas were far better than I remember from my last visit to a museum, some 20 years ago. This was a first for my wife too.

She had had low expectations too.

But it was nice and we spent about three hours (until it closed) wandering around. It isn't a big place, but if we had more time we would have read more, looked in all the drawers, played for longer with the interactive displays. For a first visit though, it was a good taster.

I grabbed a few images where I could, as shooting through glass is never that much fun. If able to get up close enough though, it is decent.

As mentioned, I am 100% on phone at the moment, so formatting a lot of images just isn't going to happen. I did some basic editing where I could in Lightroom mobile and have added some here for you to scroll.

Tomorrow, I am looking forward to getting a couple great animal images at the zoo though, so will add them in a photo post later. Or perhaps it will be for Pinmapple. Unsure at the moment.

Scroll away...

Smallsteps really had no idea about how big things truly are.

1000039173.jpg

And this last one is the view from our hotel room. It is quite a nice and large room of about 35m2 and is a old building. We have a bay window that looks out to the city center in one direction, and more old buildings in the other. It is quite nice and would have a good atmosphere for a couple - when there daughter isn't in a sofa bed two meters away.

Can't have everything.

With an early wakeup for breakfast and the boat ride to the zoo (it is on an island), I am going to try ad get an early night. Going to bed early rarely works for me though, so I might be up pottering around Hive in a few hours anyway.

Good to read that you have spent three hours in zoo. By the way it's really challenging to photograph through the glass wall

Woohoo. I don't know what to say, but those captions were a bit funny, and I enjoyed seeing these pics.

I didn't like the one with Lions and Zebra, it might have not been there, however, it is the reality of nature.

The circle of Life. We have tried to give Smallsteps a pragmatic view of the world, without all the gory details.

She had a ball. The zoo today should be great, now that she has seen what is inside the animals.

Amazing job. This place looks incredible but your edition makes its look even better. You definitely nailed it with those bones.

I'm so glad she had a good museum experience! That is a gift that will last all through her life.

That's awesome, I am glad it was a hit. I know that disappointment you can feel when the kids don't quite appreciate the sights and sounds. We took our friends to a really beautiful waterfall one time. You had to walk down quite a few steps to get to it and when we finished we asked the kids if they liked it. Our nephew loved it, but their kid said something like "I could have just looked at pictures of it". I think he was more upset by the physical exertion than the actual view!

:D

I wonder how many of our experiences would be better in pictures.

Impressive pictures 🤩 He's behind me, isn't he?" 😄🤗😅, magical this picture, quite brave :). It's scale like Tarzan with Jane. This is a great museum.
A little wait and you can have it all 😄?

I would have liked to have spent more time there playing about with the camera, but unfortunately, they were closing.

So scary. But quite interesting clicks. Photos are so much clear as I feels I can touch the zebra, giraffe and the tiger that's are looking very powerful.

It was a fun trip. Perhaps I should trade my Blight for another to see if it is any better :)

This Blight is a combination with another Soulbound Reward Card.
We should name it Drybone Blight 🤣

I'm glad Smallsteps had a great time. Look at her staring and growling into the eyes of those predators. I wonder if she would be that fearless if they were alive. But she's exceedingly brave for even getting close to it.

She'd probably want to give it a hug :D

Museums are always great! I love especially the Science Museum in Munich. Several floors with different topics, representations, renders and much more!
It's almost close to Funland, you can plan a trip for Smallsteps there (and they have great food too, for who appreciate it)

A science museum would be great. They have an interactive one here called Heuraka which I took her to last summer and she enjoyed it. You can build race cars out of wood and screws there :)

I have never been to Munich - it is on the list!

Your Dr. Blight isn't looking too good, even with all that scavenging going on.

Enjoy the zoo!

Good to see she's not quite as tall as a giraffe yet. We'll check back in in 6 months.

At the speed at which we have to replace her clothes, it feels like she is a giraffe. I think we have to be more extreme like my parents were - buy clothes three sizes too big.

Yeah, I would get clothes from our cousins and my sister would get my old clothes... I remember when I was like 14 or so, and I bought a Sweathog jacket (remember those with the white arms?) with money saved up from a few birthdays, and it just felt like the biggest luxury in the world to wear something new that I picked out myself.
