Prinsjestuin In Groningen ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Wednesday Walk

"Another weekend, another opportunity to explore. Where to visit next?" we asked ourselves. Fortunately for us, we didn't have to break our heads over it, as some friends of ours invited us to join them on their trip through some places in the Netherlands. They even had a full itinerary planned.

One of those spots happened to be the province known as Groningen. We wandered a bit through the shopping center and visited the market - which is also open on Saturdays - and after having seen the usual stalls, we decided to go through the list.

Prinsjestuin (Prince's garden) - one of the first on the schedule - was part of the court the princes of Nassau used to stay at and was constructed around 1626. The garden consists of roses, herbs and berceaus along its pad and is considered a tranquil shelter in the middle of a busy city.

When we walked through the garden I imagined it to be charming in the middle of Spring or Summer, but as the weather is still transitioning from Winter to Spring, we couldn't enjoy the rose garden and the beauty of the berceaus. It was also a rainy, day so the sky was grey and cloudy. Luckily, there were a few flowerbeds full of bright colored flowers, like the purple flowers that look like opened tulips, but not sure.

At the entrance/exit there's a beautifully crafted plaque or sundial with "golden" colored roman digits and a Latin text. "Tempus Prรฆteritum Nihil Futurum Incertum. Prรฆsens Instabile Cave Ne Perdas Hoc Tuum.", which imparts the wise lesson to make the best of the time we have, because the time gone by is "naught", the future "uncertain" and the present "wavering".

With the wise lesson in tow, we left the garden and proceeded to our next adventure. Though we couldn't enjoy the full beauty of Prinsjestuin, we enjoyed our stroll through the garden with the good company, our sense of humor and the appreciation for the bright colors available. Where has your Wednesday Walk taken you so far? Let me know in the comments below or better yet in your very own Wednesday Walk post ๐Ÿค“.

I know right. It must be even more pleasing to the eye when the roses bud and there's more green around in Spring and Summer.
