Happy Saturday, everyone. I have to work today, though luckily it’ll be a short shift—just a half-day—the complete opposite of this past Friday, which was packed with work, errands, and those little details that turn an ordinary day into a story worth telling.
Friday started early, as workdays usually do, but with such spectacular weather that it seemed as though the sky wanted to lift our spirits right from dawn. It wasn’t too hot, even though the sun was shining brightly; the constant, cool breeze balanced everything out and made the atmosphere feel perfect for working without getting too exhausted. That combination of bright sunshine and a cool breeze always puts me in a good mood.
Feliz sábado para todos. Hoy me toca trabajar, aunque por suerte será algo breve, apenas media jornada, lo contrario de lo que fue este viernes, que estuvo lleno de trabajo, diligencias y esos pequeños detalles que hacen que un día normal se convierta en una historia para contar.
El viernes comenzó temprano, como suelen empezar los días de labor, pero con un clima tan espectacular que parecía que el cielo quería regalarnos un buen ánimo desde el amanecer. No estaba muy caluroso, aunque el sol brillaba con fuerza; la brisa, constante y fresca, equilibraba todo y hacía que el ambiente se sintiera perfecto para trabajar sin agotarse demasiado. Esa combinación de sol radiante y viento fresco siempre me pone de buen humor.
Tomamos la vía Portachuelo rumbo al Hotel Sunsol Ecoland para realizar nuestra rutina en el tanque principal. Ese camino siempre me gusta porque tiene su encanto natural, y a esa hora de la mañana la luz hace que todo se vea más vivo. Al llegar, nos recibió la siempre carismática Carel, quien nos explicó que la rutina del día debía hacerse de manera un poco diferente. El tanque principal estaba a la mitad, mientras que el australiano estaba casi completo, así que tendríamos que clorar ambos tanques para mantener todo en orden.

We got right to work. After completing the necessary chlorination and disinfection, we proceeded to measure the residual chlorine. Everything was within the acceptable limits, which is always a relief because it means the water is safe and in good condition. We also checked the suspended solids, which were also within the proper range. These small technical details, though they sometimes go unnoticed by many, are essential to ensuring the quality of service and the peace of mind of those who use these facilities.
Nos pusimos manos a la obra. Después de realizar la cloración y la desinfección correspondiente, procedimos a medir el cloro residual. Todo salió dentro de los parámetros permisibles, lo cual siempre es un alivio porque significa que el agua está segura y en buenas condiciones. También verificamos los sólidos en suspensión, que igualmente estaban en los valores adecuados. Esos pequeños detalles técnicos, aunque a veces pasan desapercibidos para muchos, son esenciales para garantizar la calidad del servicio y la tranquilidad de quienes usan esas instalaciones.
Once we were done with the main tank and the Australian tank, we decided to take a tour of the hotel. The main idea was to check some filters and make sure everything was working properly. During that tour, we found two filters with leaks—nothing serious, but something that needed to be addressed—so we reported them immediately to the maintenance department so they could fix them as soon as possible.
Una vez terminamos en el tanque principal y en el australiano, decidimos dar un recorrido por el hotel. La idea principal era revisar algunos filtros, asegurarnos de que todo estuviera funcionando correctamente. En ese recorrido encontramos dos filtros con unos salideros, nada grave pero sí importante de atender, así que los reportamos de inmediato al área de mantenimiento para que pudieran corregirlos cuanto antes.
With all our tasks completed, we took one last stroll near the lagoon, where the statues of the capybaras stand—the same ones that used to wander peacefully around the hotel a few years ago. Seeing those figures always makes me feel a little nostalgic, reminding me of when the animals roamed freely around there, as if they were part of the staff or special guests.
Con todas las tareas cumplidas, dimos un último paseo cerca de la laguna, donde están las estatuas de los chigüires que hace algunos años caminaban con tranquilidad por el hotel. Siempre me da un poco de nostalgia ver esas figuras, recordando cuando los animales se paseaban libremente por allí, como si fueran parte del personal o huéspedes especiales.
Finally, we set off on our return journey, passing through the villages of Tacarigua and Santa Ana, which I always love to drive through because they have a picturesque, cheerful charm that feels so uniquely ours. Along the way, we saw a bird feed store that had corn that looked incredibly fresh. We stopped, bought some for our birds, and continued our journey back home through Portachuelo, with that sense of satisfaction that comes from a day well spent.
Al final emprendimos el regreso, pasando por los pueblos de Tacarigua y Santa Ana, que siempre me encanta atravesar porque tienen un encanto pintoresco, alegre y muy nuestro. En el camino vimos una venta de alimentos para aves que tenía un maíz que se veía fresquísimo. Nos detuvimos, compramos un poco para nuestras aves y seguimos nuestro trayecto de vuelta a casa por Portachuelo, con esa sensación de satisfacción que deja un día bien aprovechado.
