This Saturday, I sincerely hope that each of you gets to enjoy the peace and quiet of home—that sanctuary where time seems to stand still and where little daily routines become a warm embrace that brightens our day. We, at home, decided to make the most of the day by taking a tour of our town and, if all went well, ending the afternoon at the beach. I’ll tell you later how it went, because every outing in Margarita always leaves us with a new, joyful, and interesting story to share.
The island is bustling with life during Holy Week. In almost every town, there’s a festive atmosphere, with activities celebrating traditions, faith, and, of course, the characteristic joy of the people of Margarita. This year we decided to focus on the municipality of Francisco Antolín del Campo, a place that has always held a special place in our hearts, since we settled there. It is a municipality with deep roots, where agriculture and fishing are not just trades, but legacies passed down from generation to generation.
Yesterday, as we were heading out, we were surprised not only by the beautiful weather—that clear, stunning sky—but also by the scenery that, even though we see it every day, never ceases to amaze us. On 31 de Julio Avenue, right by the fountain, we came across a wonderful initiative; they were handing out newsletters about the municipality’s activities. It was a simple gesture, yet full of meaning, like an invitation to rediscover what is ours. And, in true Margariteño style, there was no shortage of music or dancing in colorful, traditional costumes, welcoming every vacationer and tourist who passed by.
Este sábado deseo de corazón que cada uno de ustedes disfrute la tranquilidad del hogar, ese refugio donde el tiempo parece detenerse y donde las pequeñas rutinas se vuelven un abrazo que nos alegra el dia. Nosotros, en casa, decidimos aprovechar el día para dar un recorrido por nuestra localidad y, si todo salía bien, terminar la tarde en la playa. Más adelante les contaré cómo nos fue, porque cada salida en Margarita siempre deja una anécdota nueva, alegre e interesante que ver.
La isla está llena de vida por la Semana Santa. En casi todas las localidades se respira un ambiente festivo, con actividades que celebran las tradiciones, la fe y, por supuesto, la alegría característica de la gente margariteña. Este año decidimos enfocarnos en el municipio Francisco Antolín del Campo, un lugar que siempre nos ha inspirado cariño, ya que decidimos en ella. Es un municipio de raíces profundas, donde la agricultura y la pesca no son solo oficios, sino herencias que pasan de generación en generación.
Ayer, al salir, no solo nos sorprendió el buen clima —ese cielo despejado que es hermoso— sino también los paisajes que, aunque los veamos día a día, nunca dejan de maravillarnos. En la avenida 31 de Julio, justo a la altura de la fuente, nos encontramos con una hermosa iniciativa; estaban repartiendo boletines informativos sobre las actividades del municipio. Era un gesto sencillo, pero lleno de intención, como una invitación a redescubrir lo nuestro. Y, como buen recibimiento margariteño, no faltaba la música ni los bailes con trajes pintorescos, llenos de color y tradición, dándole la bienvenida a cada temporadista y turista que pasaba por allí.
After enjoying that lovely moment, we continued on our way because we needed to fill up on gas. As is often the case on busy days, we drove around for a while until we finally ended up at the Los Cerritos gas station.
Después de disfrutar ese momento tan bonito, seguimos nuestro camino porque debíamos ir a colocar combustible. Como suele pasar en días de alta afluencia, dimos algunas vueltas hasta que finalmente terminamos en la estación de servicio de Los Cerritos.
That gas station has always had a unique system: you fill up first and then pay. However, because things have been so chaotic on the island lately, they changed the process. Now you have to pay before filling up. It might seem like a minor detail, but when you want to fill up your tank and don’t know exactly how much will fit, it gets a little stressful. You have to estimate, pay, and then hope it works out. Luckily, once the week is over, everything will go back to normal.
Esa bomba siempre ha tenido un sistema particular; primero te surten y luego pagas. Sin embargo, debido a lo combulsa que ha estado la isla estos días, cambiaron el proceso. Ahora debes pagar antes de colocar el combustible. Puede parecer un detalle menor, pero cuando quieres llenar el tanque y no sabes exactamente cuánto entrará, se vuelve un poco estresante. Tienes que calcular un aproximado, pagar y luego esperar que coincida. Por suerte, cuando pase la semana, todo volverá a la normalidad.
These are the little hiccups that crop up when the island is crowded. Nothing serious, but enough to remind us that sometimes even the simplest things get a little complicated. After filling up on gas, we decided to head home. Traffic was heavy, and to be honest, when you don’t have work obligations, home is the best place to escape the hustle and bustle.
Estos son los pequeños contratiempos que aparecen cuando la isla está llena. Nada grave, pero sí suficiente para recordarnos que, a veces, lo más sencillo se complica un poco. Después de colocar el combustible, decidimos regresar a casa. El tráfico estaba muy denso y, siendo sinceros, cuando no hay obligaciones laborales, el hogar es el mejor lugar para resguardarse del bullicio.

Yo siempre digo que en vacaciones prestamos la isla a los turistas jaja yo no suelo salir en semana santa porque viene mucha gente y hay mucho movimiento y este año me hizo feliz ver a Margarita como hace años no la veía, y no me importó quedarme en casa.
Me alegra que a pesar de los contratiempos disfrutaron muy bien su día.

Qué lindo lo que dices. A veces lo mejor es disfrutar la isla en calma, sin prisas ni multitudes, y dejar que nos recuerde por qué la queremos tanto. Es hermoso ver que vuelve a mostrarse como antes, con ese ritmo suave que solo quienes la viven de verdad saben apreciar.
