[ENG/ESP]A day at work at Ecoland, surrounded by scenery that brightens our day
I wish you all a wonderful weekend, filled with peace and good times. After several days of fairly thick cloud cover over much of the island, the sky finally began to clear. That change always feels like a little gift, because when the weather improves, so do the light, the colors, and the opportunities to capture beautiful photos that I can then share with you. When the sky clears, the island takes on a special glow that invites you to take it all in at a leisurely pace.
This past Friday, we hadn’t planned on going to the Sunsol Ecoland hotel. However, we received a call to check the calcium chamber at the desalination plant, so we had to rearrange our day and get ready to leave early for the municipality of Gómez. Sometimes work has these unexpected twists, but we’re used to it by now and always handle it responsibly.
We took 31 de Julio Avenue, where the Hesperia Playa El Agua Hotel is located. From a distance, you can see its striking architecture, its vibrant colors, and that style that stands out against the island’s landscape. It’s impossible to drive by without at least glancing at it.

Después de varios días con una nubosidad bastante alta que cubría gran parte de la Isla, finalmente el cielo comenzó a despejarse. Ese cambio siempre se siente como un pequeño regalo, porque cuando el clima mejora, también mejora la luz, los colores y las oportunidades para capturar hermosas fotos que luego puedo compartir con ustedes. La Isla, cuando se despeja, tiene un brillo especial que invita a contemplarla todo con calma.
Este viernes que culminó no estaba en nuestros planes ir al hotel Sunsol Ecoland. Sin embargo, recibimos una llamada para revisar la cámara cálcica de la planta desalinizadora, así que tocó reorganizar el día y prepararnos para salir temprano rumbo al municipio Gómez. A veces el trabajo tiene esa dinámica inesperada, pero ya estamos acostumbrados y siempre lo asumimos con responsabilidad.
Tomamos la avenida 31 de Julio, donde se encuentra el hotel Hesperia Playa El Agua. Desde lo lejos se aprecia su arquitectura llamativa, sus colores vivos y ese estilo que resalta entre el paisaje de la Isla. Es imposible pasar por allí sin dedicarle aunque sea una mirada.
We continued on our way, turning onto Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, which, to me, is one of the most beautiful routes in the area. The scenery is so varied and full of nature that the trip feels short. It is, without a doubt, the most pleasant way to get to the hotel—a perfect blend of hills, greenery, and that fresh air that characterizes this part of the island.
Continuamos nuestro camino entrando a la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, que para mí es una de las rutas más hermosas de la zona. Sus paisajes son tan variados y llenos de naturaleza que uno siente que el trayecto se hace corto. Es, sin duda, el camino más agradable para llegar al hotel, una mezcla perfecta entre cerros, vegetación y ese aire fresco que caracteriza esta parte de la Isla.
When we arrived at Sunsol Ecoland, as always, we felt that special sense that something new was waiting for us. This hotel has a way of surprising us with every visit. Frequent visitors often mention this; each time, they discover something different that entertains them or makes them feel more connected to their surroundings. This season, they introduced electric scooters to get to the farthest corners of the resort—an idea that turned out to be both practical and fun. They also set up some aquariums that have become a big hit with the little ones, who are fascinated by watching the fish.
Al llegar al Sunsol Ecoland, como siempre, sentimos esa sensación particular de que algo nuevo nos espera. Este hotel tiene la magia de sorprender en cada visita. Los turistas que vienen con frecuencia lo comentan mucho; cada vez encuentran algo distinto que los entretiene o los hace sentir más conectados con el entorno. Para esta temporada incorporaron motos eléctricas para trasladarse a los lugares más distantes de la instalación, una idea que resultó ser muy práctica y divertida. También colocaron unos acuarios que se han convertido en el encanto de los más pequeños, quienes se quedan fascinados observando los peces.
We went straight to the desalination plant to inspect the calcium chamber. We took our time checking everything, verified the details, and coordinated the cleaning for next week.
Nosotros entramos directo a la planta desalinizadora para revisar la cámara cálcica. Chequeamos todo con calma, verificamos los detalles y coordinamos la limpieza para la próxima semana.
After we finished, we left the facility and walked past the capybara statues, which always catch tourists’ attention. Some remember when they used to see them walking around the area, but now only these sculptures remain as a reminder. Even so, the hotel’s lagoon is still home to other species, such as herons, pelicans, and various birds that find refuge in the mangroves.
Después de terminar, salimos de la planta y pasamos por las estatuas de los chigüires, que siempre llaman la atención de los turistas. Algunos recuerdan cuando podían verlos caminar por la zona, pero ahora solo quedan estas esculturas como recuerdo. Aun así, la laguna del hotel sigue siendo hogar de otras especies como garzas, pelícanos y diversas aves que encuentran refugio en el mangle.
The truth is that stepping into this hotel is always a unique experience, which is why I think we’re very lucky to be able to enjoy it even while we’re working. In this post, I wanted to tell you a little about the hotel’s atmosphere and what our workday is like—which always ends up blending with the island’s natural beauty.
La verdad es que entrar a este hotel siempre es una experiencia distinta, y por eso considero que somos muy afortunados de poder apreciarlo incluso mientras trabajamos. En esta publicación quise contarles un poco sobre la dinámica del hotel y cómo transcurre nuestro recorrido laboral, que siempre termina mezclándose con la belleza natural de la Isla.
