I love weekends; they are like little gifts that life gives us to rest, share, and recharge our batteries. Although I have to work half a day today, I intend to enjoy the rest of the day with my family, because in the end, the most valuable thing is that shared time that turns into beautiful memories. Today's work is just a routine checkup, nothing complicated, while yesterday's was a little more extensive and required more effort. However, each day has its charm and always teaches us something.
To get our work done, my husband and I get up early. The Sunsol Ecoland hotel is quite far from home, so we prefer to leave calmly, without rushing, enjoying the journey. We like that feeling of having enough time, observing the landscape and talking about anything and everything, as if the journey itself were a prelude to what awaits us.
We take the Portachuelo road, where the beginning of Gómez welcomes us with its hills that, at dawn, are tinged with warm and beautiful colors. It is impossible not to stop and admire how nature transforms with the first light of day.
Adoro los fines de semana, son como pequeños regalos que la vida nos ofrece para descansar, compartir y recargar energías. Aunque hoy me toca trabajar media jornada, mi intención es disfrutar del resto del día con mi familia, porque al final lo más valioso es ese tiempo compartido que se convierten en lindos recuerdos. El trabajo de hoy es solo un chequeo de rutina, nada complicado, mientras que el de ayer viernes fue un poco más extenso y demandó mayor esfuerzo. Sin embargo, cada jornada tiene su encanto y siempre deja alguna enseñanza.
Para cumplir con nuestras labores, mi esposo y yo nos levantamos temprano. El hotel Sunsol Ecoland queda bastante distante de casa, y por eso preferimos salir con calma, sin prisas, disfrutando del trayecto. Nos gusta esa sensación de ir con tiempo suficiente, observando el paisaje y conversando sobre cualquier tema, como si el camino mismo fuera un preludio de lo que nos espera.
Tomamos la vía Portachuelo, donde el inicio Gómez nos da la bienvenida con sus cerros que, al amanecer, se tiñen de colores cálidos y hermosos. Es imposible no detenerse a admirar cómo la naturaleza se transforma con la primera luz del día.
Whenever we pass through Tacarigua, Santana, and the surrounding area, we encounter urban and natural landscapes that intertwine in perfect harmony. This mixture of houses, streets, and mountains reminds us that beauty is found in everyday life, in what we see every day and sometimes do not appreciate enough.
Siempre que atravesamos Tacarigua, Santana y la vecindad, nos encontramos con paisajes urbanos y naturales que se entrelazan en perfecta armonía. Esa mezcla de casas, calles y montañas nos recuerda que la belleza está en lo cotidiano, en lo que vemos cada día y a veces no valoramos lo suficiente.
As we approach the hotel, we can see part of the lagoon. In the distance, the lighthouse stands like a guardian, and beyond it we can make out the tanks where we must climb up to carry out the necessary checks. It is a sight that never ceases to amaze us, because each visit gives us a different perspective depending on the time of day, the weather, or simply our mood.
Casi al llegar al hotel, podemos observar parte de la laguna. Desde lo lejos, el faro se alza como un guardián, y más allá se distinguen los tanques donde debemos subir para realizar los controles pertinentes. Es un espectáculo que nunca deja de sorprendernos, porque cada visita nos regala una perspectiva distinta según la hora, el clima o simplemente nuestro estado de ánimo.
Upon arriving at Sunsol Ecoland, we were greeted as usual by the charismatic Carel and the quality manager. That human warmth makes the work more bearable, because it's not just about completing a task, but about sharing with people who value what we do. We took a routine tour of the facility, checking that everything was in order.
Al llegar al Sunsol Ecoland, fuimos recibidos como de costumbre por la carismática Carel y el gerente de calidad. Esa calidez humana hace que el trabajo sea más llevadero, porque no se trata solo de cumplir con una tarea, sino de compartir con personas que valoran lo que hacemos. Realizamos un recorrido rutinario por la instalación, verificando que todo estuviera en orden.
We still had to climb onto the tanks, and this time we had to check the main one and the Australian one, which is a little smaller. First, we went to the Australian tank, which was undergoing repairs. There, we checked its condition and reviewed the disinfection matrix, which will require attention next week. It is technical work, yes, but it also involves responsibility, because the quality of the service provided depends on these details.
Nos quedaba subir a los tanques, y en esta ocasión tocaba revisar el principal y el australiano, que es un poco más pequeño. Primero nos dirigimos al tanque australiano, que estaba en proceso de reparación. Allí comprobamos el estado y revisamos la matriz de desinfección que requerirá atención la próxima semana. Es un trabajo técnico, sí, pero también implica responsabilidad, porque de esos detalles depende la calidad del servicio que se ofrece.
Then we climbed up to the main chlorination and disinfection tank. We measured the levels carefully, step by step, and when we confirmed that they were at the right values, we felt satisfied. It's that moment when you know that your efforts have a purpose and that everything is working as it should.
Luego subimos al tanque principal de cloración y desinfección. Medimos los niveles con cuidado, paso a paso, y al confirmar que estaban en los valores adecuados sentimos satisfacción. Es ese momento en que sabes que tu esfuerzo tiene un propósito y que todo está funcionando como debe ser.
After finishing the routine, we always have time to take some photos. The truth is that we are privileged to be able to contemplate these views from above, since access to the tanks is limited. From there, the horizon opens up in all directions and one feels small in the face of immensity, but at the same time grateful to be part of that setting.
Después de terminar la rutina, siempre nos queda un espacio para tomar algunas fotos. La verdad es que somos privilegiados al poder contemplar esas vistas desde lo alto, ya que el acceso a los tanques es limitado. Desde allí, el horizonte se abre en todas direcciones y uno se siente pequeño ante la inmensidad, pero al mismo tiempo agradecido por poder ser parte de ese escenario.
That's how our workday ended. It wasn't long or hard, but it was full of moments worth sharing. Because in the end, the most important thing isn't just fulfilling our obligations, but also enjoying the scenery, the people around us, and those moments that seem simple but are actually what make us happy.
