[ENG/ESP] When nature awakens the whisper of the shoreline, on a workday
Greetings! I sincerely hope you’re having a great day and that the spirit of Holy Week brings you all good things.
Here on the island, the week continues to be quite hectic, full of activity and that unique buzz that only tourists can create when they arrive en masse in search of sun, sand, and relaxation. From early in the morning, you can see long lines of cars patiently moving along the main roads, all with the same destination in mind: to enjoy the beautiful beaches.
The truth is that it’s been years since we’ve seen such a large influx of visitors—so many tourists and seasonal visitors exploring every corner of Margarita. And although for us islanders, this means less peace and quiet and more hustle and bustle, it’s also a wonderful sign. It’s a breath of fresh air for the local economy, a boost for those of us who make our living from tourism, and a joy to see the island so alive, so full of people who come to enjoy what is home to us. So yes, this Holy Week hasn’t exactly been quiet, but it has certainly been very productive.

Aquí en la Isla la semana continúa bastante convulsa, llena de movimiento y de ese bullicio particular que solo los turistas saben crear cuando llegan en masa buscando sol, playa y descanso. Desde temprano se ven las largas filas de carros avanzando con paciencia por las vías principales, todos con el mismo destino en mente; disfrutar de las hermosas playas.
La verdad es que hacía años no se veía un flujo tan grande de visitantes, tantos turistas y temporadistas recorriendo cada rincón de Margarita. Y aunque para nosotros, los isleños, esto significa menos tranquilidad y más ajetreo, también es una señal maravillosa. Es un respiro para la economía local, un impulso para quienes vivimos del turismo y una alegría ver la isla tan viva, tan llena de gente que viene a disfrutar lo que para nosotros es hogar. Así que sí, esta Semana Santa no ha sido precisamente tranquila, pero sin duda ha sido muy productiva.
In our case, we also had to head out to work. The Sunsol Ecoland Hotel is operating at full capacity, and, as always, they rely on our inspection and disinfection services to maintain high standards throughout their facilities. So we got up very early, before traffic turned into chaos, so we could make our way there calmly and, along the way, enjoy the beautiful views along the route.
Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, true to form, welcomed us with those landscapes that look like living postcards. Its coastline, illuminated by the morning sun, had that special glow you only see when the day promises to be radiant.
En nuestro caso, también nos tocó salir a trabajar. El Hotel Sunsol Ecoland está con una excelente capacidad de huéspedes y, como siempre, requieren de nuestro servicio de verificación y desinfección para mantener la calidad en todos sus espacios. Así que nos levantamos bien temprano, antes de que el tráfico se volviera un caos, para poder avanzar con calma y, de paso, disfrutar de las hermosas vistas del camino.
La avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, fiel a su estilo, nos recibió con esos paisajes que parecen postales vivientes. Su litoral costero, iluminado por el sol de la mañana, tenía ese brillo especial que solo se ve cuando el día promete ser radiante.
And we weren’t the only early risers: from the cliffs, you could see the fishermen already hard at work, casting their lines with the calm confidence of those who know the sea like an old friend.
Y no éramos los únicos madrugadores: desde los riscos se podían ver a los pescadores ya en plena faena, lanzando sus líneas con la serenidad de quien conoce el mar como a un viejo amigo.
Among these landscapes that look like gigantic paintings created by nature to give us a moment of contemplation, we finally arrive at Sunsol Ecoland.
Entre esos paisajes que parecen gigantescas pinturas creadas por la naturaleza para regalarnos un momento de contemplación, llegamos finalmente a Sunsol Ecoland.
There, the ever-charismatic Carel was waiting for us, ready to help us with our routine disinfection and chlorination of the main tank. Everything went smoothly, the readings were perfect, and we left with that sense of satisfaction that comes from a job well done.
Allí nos esperaba la siempre carismática Carel, lista para acompañarnos en nuestra rutina de desinfección y cloración del tanque principal. Todo fluyó con orden, los valores estaban perfectos y nos retiramos con esa satisfacción que deja el trabajo bien hecho.
As we left the hotel and headed back, right by the lagoon’s channel we saw the boats arriving to stock the Cava truck, offering fresh sardines to the locals. We were tempted to stop, but we didn’t have a bucket to take them home in, so we decided to save it for another time. Still, it was lovely to see that scene so typical of the island—that dynamic between the sea and the community that never fails to remind us of our roots.
Al salir del hotel y tomar el camino de regreso, justo en el canal de la laguna vimos llegar los botes que surtían al camión Cava, ofreciendo sardina fresca a los pobladores. Nos provocó detenernos, pero no llevábamos un balde para llevarlas a casa, así que lo dejamos para otra ocasión. Igual fue bonito ver ese movimiento tan típico de la isla, esa dinámica entre mar y comunidad que nunca deja de recordarnos las raíces.
So the three of us set off on the return trip before the traffic got any heavier. The drive was beautiful and relaxing, with stunning scenery, glorious weather, and that sense of gratitude that comes when you stop to take in your surroundings.
Así, los tres emprendimos el camino de vuelta antes de que el tráfico se pusiera más denso. El recorrido fue muy hermoso y relajante, entre paisajes hermosos, un clima radiante y esa sensación de gratitud que aparece cuando uno se detiene a mirar lo que tiene alrededor.
