[ENG/ESP] The Road to Ecoland: Work and Natural Beauty

The week continues on its course, and with it come our responsibilities—those that sometimes seem endless but which, if we look at them calmly, also give us small moments to appreciate the world around us. That balance between duty and contemplation is essential for keeping our minds calm and our spirits high, especially when our days involve long commutes and technical work that requires precision and perseverance.
Today we had to travel to the municipality of Gómez to carry out our routine disinfection and chlorination of the main tank and the Australian-style tank at the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel. As I’ve mentioned in other posts, this hotel is quite a distance from our home, but the road leading to it is full of scenery that deserves to be savored at a leisurely pace and, of course, shared with you. Nature in that area has a special charm: intense colors, mountains that seem to embrace the sky, and a lagoon that never ceases to amaze with its shifting hues.
We left very early in the morning with the intention of avoiding the long lines of vacationers. The closer we get to the Virgin’s feast day, the more congested the traffic becomes due to the increase in tourists arriving on the island. However, that plan to get an early start didn’t work out for us this time. We spent much of the trip in a long line of cars, all moving forward patiently: workers, families, people running errands, and us, on our way to do our work. Even so, the road, though slow-moving, continued to radiate its usual beauty. The morning light filtered through the clouds and made every corner look like a postcard.

La semana continúa su curso, y con ella llegan nuestras responsabilidades, esas que a veces parecen interminables pero que, si las miramos con calma, también nos regalan pequeños márgenes para apreciar el entorno que nos rodea. Ese equilibrio entre deber y contemplación es fundamental para mantener la mente serena y el ánimo en buen estado, sobre todo cuando nuestras jornadas implican traslados largos y trabajos técnicos que requieren precisión y constancia.
Este día debíamos trasladarnos al municipio Gómez para realizar nuestra rutina de desinfección y cloración del tanque principal y del tanque australiano del hotel Sunsol Ecoland. Como ya les he comentado en otras publicaciones, este hotel queda bastante distante de nuestra casa, pero el camino que conduce hasta él está lleno de paisajes que merecen ser apreciados con calma y, por supuesto, compartidos con ustedes. La naturaleza en esa zona tiene un encanto particular; colores intensos, montañas que parecen abrazar el cielo y una laguna que siempre sorprende con sus tonos cambiantes.
Salimos bien temprano con la intención de evitar las largas filas de temporadistas. Mientras más se acerca el día de la Virgen, más congestionado se vuelve el tráfico por el aumento de turistas que llegan a la isla. Sin embargo, ese plan de madrugar no nos funcionó esta vez. Gran parte del trayecto lo hicimos en una fila extensa de autos, todos avanzando con paciencia; trabajadores, familias, personas haciendo diligencias, y nosotros, rumbo a cumplir con nuestra labor. Aun así, el camino, aunque pausado, seguía irradiando su hermosura habitual. La luz de la mañana se filtraba entre las nubes y hacía que cada rincón pareciera una postal.
We passed by the lagoon, which that day displayed some truly beautiful contrasting colors. The water reflected shades of green and blue, while the nearby mountains were silhouetted as soft shadows on the horizon. It was a moment that, though brief, filled the journey with a sense of calm.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were quickly greeted and told to head straight to the tanks, where the charismatic Carel was already waiting to accompany us on the job. Since there weren’t enough security personnel in the tank area that day, I had to stay behind to watch over the car and our belongings while my husband and Carel went up to perform their routine. Although I couldn’t go up, that time allowed me to take a close look at the facility and snap a few photos to show them later.
Al llegar al hotel nos recibieron con rapidez y nos indicaron que debíamos dirigirnos directamente a los tanques, donde ya nos esperaba la carismática Carel para acompañarnos en el trabajo. Como ese día no había personal suficiente de seguridad en la zona de los tanques, me tocó quedarme al cuidado del auto y de nuestras cosas mientras mi esposo y Carel subían a realizar la rutina. Aunque no pude subir, ese tiempo me permitió observar con detenimiento la instalación y tomar algunas fotografías para poder mostrárselas después.
From where I was standing, I could clearly see the lagoon, with its contrasting shades of sky, mountain, and water. It was an extraordinarily beautiful sight—the kind you’d want to freeze in time forever. Nature has a special way of reminding us that even in the midst of work, there are moments worth taking the time to appreciate.
Desde el punto donde me encontraba se veía claramente la laguna, irradiando sus tonos contrastantes de cielo, montaña y agua. Era una imagen extraordinariamente hermosa, de esas que uno quisiera congelar para siempre. La naturaleza tiene una manera especial de recordarnos que incluso en medio del trabajo hay instantes que merecen ser contemplados.
When we finished our routine, we set off again, taking the Portachuelo road. I never tire of looking at that road; it always surprises us with its picturesque colors and its beauty, which seems to be renewed every day. It’s a journey that combines work, scenery, and a touch of leisure, and it reminds us that life can perfectly intertwine those three elements.
Al terminar la rutina nos marchamos tomando nuevamente la vía de Portachuelo. Ese camino no me canso de verlo; siempre nos sorprende con sus colores pintorescos y su belleza que parece renovarse cada día. Es un trayecto que combina trabajo, paisaje y un pequeño toque de esparcimiento, y que nos recuerda que la vida puede entrelazar perfectamente esos tres elementos.
