[ENG/ESP] The relaxed pace of a Tuesday on the island
Happy Tuesday. I sincerely hope you have a peaceful, productive day filled with little joys that make the day go by more easily. I’m sure mine will be, too. After a few days off, the routine is settling back into its natural rhythm, and, as is often the case, things are piling up a bit. Yesterday, Monday, the week started off quite busy, almost as if to remind us that our time off is now behind us.
We had to go to Parque Costa Azul to coordinate and take care of some pending tasks. Over the last two days, the weather has been strange; very cloudy, with a constant breeze that’s refreshing but also confusing, because it looks like it’s going to rain… and then it doesn’t. However, Monday dawned differently. The sky cleared up a bit more, revealing an intense blue that contrasted with scattered clouds, making it even more beautiful. That mix of brightness and coolness encouraged us to head out early, convinced that the weather would be an ally and not an obstacle.
Feliz martes. Deseo de corazón que tengan un día tranquilo, productivo y lleno de pequeñas satisfacciones que hagan más ligera la jornada. El mío, estoy segura, también lo será. Después de varios días de descanso, la rutina vuelve a tomar su ritmo natural y, como suele pasar, todo se acumula un poco. Ayer lunes la semana comenzó bastante activa, casi como si quisiera recordarnos que el descanso ya quedó atrás.
Tuvimos que ir a Parque Costa Azul para coordinar y realizar algunos trabajos pendientes. En estos dos últimos días el clima ha estado extraño; muy nublado, con una brisa constante que refresca pero que también confunde, porque parece que va a llover… y no llueve. Sin embargo, el lunes amaneció distinto. El cielo se abrió un poco más, dejando ver un azul intenso que contrastaba con unas nubes dispersas que lo hacían aún más hermoso. Esa mezcla de claridad y frescura nos animó a salir temprano, convencidos de que el clima sería un aliado y no un obstáculo.
My husband and I took Luisa Cáceres Avenue and then Jóvito Villalba Avenue, taking advantage of the lighter traffic. You can tell that many tourists have already left, and that makes for a calm drive, without the stress that sometimes builds up during rush hour. That tranquility gave me the chance to take some photos along the way, capturing the urban landscape in all its nuances: the buildings that seem to be waking up, the trees and palm trees swaying in the breeze, under a sky that kept changing its mood by the minute.
Mi esposo y yo tomamos la avenida Luisa Cáceres y luego la Jóvito Villalba, aprovechando que el tráfico estaba más liviano. Se nota que muchos turistas ya se han marchado, y eso permite manejar con calma, sin ese estrés que a veces se acumula en las horas pico. Esa tranquilidad me dio la oportunidad de tomar algunas fotografías del recorrido, capturando el paisaje urbano con todos sus matices; los edificios que parecen despertar, los árboles y las palmeras moviéndose con la brisa, en ese cielo que seguía cambiando de humor a cada minuto.
We arrived without a hitch at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center, where we were scheduled to conduct our water parameter testing. We also had a meeting with the maintenance department to coordinate the cleaning and sanitization of the tanks. Meetings, though necessary, always cause me a bit of stress. They tend to run longer than expected, and while it’s almost always for the best, I end up exhausted when they drag on too long. Even so, we managed to make progress on everything we needed to and wrap up the key points.
Llegamos sin contratiempos al centro comercial Parque Costa Azul, donde debíamos realizar nuestro servicio de medición de parámetros de las aguas. Además, teníamos una reunión con la gerencia de mantenimiento para coordinar trabajos de limpieza y desbacterización de los tanques. Las reuniones, aunque necesarias, siempre me generan un poco de estrés. Suelen alargarse más de lo previsto y, aunque casi siempre es para bien, termino agotada cuando se extienden demasiado. Aun así, logramos avanzar en todo lo que debíamos y cerrar los puntos importantes.
By the time we finally finished, it was already quite late. The mall was almost empty, as if it, too, were recovering from the hectic days of the high season. We took the opportunity to take a short stroll, more to clear our heads than for any other reason. And, as often happens after a long meeting, we both agreed that we needed some ice cream. Nothing is more comforting than a scoop of ice cream after a busy day.
Cuando por fin terminamos, ya era bastante tarde. El centro comercial estaba casi vacío, como si también él estuviera recuperándose de los días convulsos que trae la temporada alta. Aprovechamos para dar un pequeño recorrido, más por despejar la mente que por otra cosa. Y, como suele suceder después de una reunión larga, ambos coincidimos en que necesitábamos un helado. Nada reconforta más que una barquilla después de un día intenso.
We went to McDonald’s Ice Cream and Desserts because their cones never disappoint. Plus, the view from there of the hill is simply beautiful. There’s something special about eating ice cream while taking in that scenery; it’s as if your fatigue melts away a little and the day ends on a sweet, well-deserved note.
After enjoying our ice cream, we headed home with the satisfaction of having accomplished our goals. There’s no better feeling than that mix of a job well done and small pleasures that balance out the day.
Fuimos a Helados y Postres de McDonald’s, porque sus barquillas nunca fallan. Además, la vista desde allí hacia el cerro es simplemente hermosa. Hay algo especial en comer un helado mientras observas ese paisaje; es como si el cansancio se disipara un poco y el día cerrara con un toque dulce y merecido.
Después de disfrutar nuestro helado, regresamos a casa con la satisfacción de haber cumplido con nuestros propósitos. No hay mejor sensación que esa mezcla de deber cumplido y pequeños placeres que equilibran la jornada.
