[ENG/ESP] Marina Venetur: a peaceful corner of Margarita Island
Greetings fellow travelers of #worldmappin, I'm back with you to share a new experience on the beautiful Margarita Island. This time, I want to take you with me to visit Marina Venetur, located on the internal road of the same name, within the Mariño municipality, in the state of Nueva Esparta. This corner of the island has a special charm, a place we always enjoy visiting because it exudes calm and serenity, and because right next to it is a small beach called Playa Bayside, a discreet and cozy spot that is almost never crowded, ideal for those seeking tranquility away from the tourist hustle and bustle.
The marina has a bar-restaurant called “Soda Bar Margarita,” although on that day, being Monday and late in the afternoon, we found it closed. Even so, its presence gives the place a picturesque air, as if it were waiting for visitors with promises of good music and refreshing drinks.
Saludos amigos viajeros de #worldmappin, estoy de vuelta con ustedes para compartir una nueva experiencia en la hermosa Isla Margarita. En esta ocasión quiero llevarlos conmigo a recorrer la Marina Venetur, ubicada en la vía interna del mismo nombre, dentro del municipio Mariño, en el estado Nueva Esparta. Este rincón de la isla guarda un encanto especial, un lugar que siempre visitamos con agrado porque transmite calma y serenidad, y porque justo al lado derecho se encuentra una pequeña playa llamada Playa Bayside, un espacio discreto y acogedor que casi nunca está lleno, ideal para quienes buscan tranquilidad lejos del bullicio turístico.
La marina cuenta con un bar restaurante que lleva por nombre “Soda Bar Margarita”, aunque ese día, por ser lunes y ya entrada la tarde, lo encontramos cerrado. Aun así, su presencia le da un aire pintoresco al lugar, como si esperara a los visitantes con promesas de buena música y refrescantes bebidas.
Our visit was not for leisure, but rather a break in the middle of a busy day of meetings and work. My husband and I decided to walk around the marina in search of that “dose” of peace that this place usually offers. And we couldn't help but share it with you, because I'm sure it will also catch your attention and perhaps become one of your favorite spots in Margarita.
Nuestra visita no fue de ocio, sino más bien una pausa en medio de un día intenso de reuniones y trabajo. Mi esposo y yo decidimos caminar por la marina buscando esa “pastilla” de paz que este sitio suele ofrecer. Y no podíamos dejar de compartirlo con ustedes, porque estoy segura de que también les llamará la atención y quizás se convierta en uno de sus rincones favoritos de Margarita.
The locals tell fascinating stories about this place. Many years ago, the marina was bustling with life; yachts from different countries arrived constantly, attracted by the casinos and clubs that abounded on the island. It was a time of splendor and constant movement. Today, only one of those casinos remains open, and about three bingo halls still welcome visitors. The passing of the years has transformed the island's dynamics, but the marina retains its essence and nostalgic air.
Los lugareños cuentan historias fascinantes sobre este lugar. Hace muchos años, la marina era un hervidero de vida; yates de diferentes países llegaban constantemente, atraídos por los casinos y clubes que abundaban en la isla. Era un tiempo de esplendor y movimiento constante. Hoy, de aquellos casinos queda abierto solo uno, y sobreviven unos tres bingos que aún reciben visitantes. El paso de los años ha transformado la dinámica de la isla, pero la marina conserva su esencia y su aire nostálgico.
Upon entering, the first thing that catches your eye is its small lighthouse, always impeccably painted. It's a detail that I love because it gives the place a distinctive and elegant touch, like a silent guardian watching over the waters and welcoming those who arrive.
Al entrar, lo primero que llama la atención es su pequeño faro, siempre impecablemente pintado. Es un detalle que me encanta porque le da un toque distintivo y elegante al lugar, como un guardián silencioso que vigila las aguas y recibe a quienes llegan.
Marina Venetur is now a peaceful place. In the afternoons, some locals come with their children and a simple fishing rod to enjoy a pleasant time. The boats rest on the dock; some are in excellent condition, shining in the sun, while others show the passage of time with ropes covered in slime and worn-out chassis.
La Marina Venetur ahora es un espacio tranquilo. En las tardes, algunos locales se acercan con sus hijos y una simple caña de pescar para pasar un rato agradable. Las embarcaciones reposan en el muelle; algunas se conservan en excelente estado, brillando bajo el sol, mientras que otras muestran el paso del tiempo con cuerdas cubiertas de limo y chasis desgastados.
On our journey, we even found a boat covered in moss and shells, as if nature had decided to reclaim it.
En nuestro recorrido incluso encontramos una lancha cubierta de musgo y conchas, como si la naturaleza hubiera decidido reclamarla.
What I love most about this place is the turquoise hue of its waters, a color that seems to have been painted by divine artists. The sea here is so calm that you can barely hear it, and that calmness is balm for the soul. We walked along the pier watching the boats float gently, reflected in a blue that contrasted with the clear sky. It was a simple but deeply relaxing sight.
Lo que más adoro de este lugar es la tonalidad turquesa de sus aguas, un color que parece pintado por artistas divinos. El mar aquí es tan sereno que su sonido apenas se percibe, y esa calma se convierte en un bálsamo para el espíritu. Caminamos por todo el muelle observando cómo las embarcaciones flotaban suavemente, reflejadas en un azul que contrastaba con el cielo despejado. Era un espectáculo sencillo pero profundamente relajante.
After our walk, we felt our minds clear and our bodies become lighter. That walk was enough to recharge our batteries and remind us that sometimes peace can be found in the simplest details. On our way back home, we stopped to admire the beautiful buildings in the Costa Azul neighborhood, whose modern and elegant architecture completed the picture of a perfect day.
Después de nuestro recorrido, sentimos cómo la mente se despejaba y el cuerpo se volvía ligero. Esa caminata fue suficiente para recargar energías y recordar que, a veces, la paz se encuentra en los detalles más simples. Al emprender el camino de regreso a casa, nos detuvimos a admirar las hermosas edificaciones del sector Costa Azul, que con su arquitectura moderna y elegante completan la postal de un día perfecto.
