[ENG/ESP] Closing a chapter with peace of mind

Today I want to share with you, in a bit more detail and at a more leisurely pace, what our last day of work was like during this first phase at the Ecoland Hotel’s desalination plant. It was a day that marked an important milestone, not only technically but also emotionally, because we’d come off a string of intense days—the kind that leave you feeling a little drained and with the sense that you’ve given more than usual.
We left home early, with renewed enthusiasm. We knew this day was crucial: kicking off the first phase of such a massive and long-awaited project meant a lot to us. The trust placed in our team was immense, and that always brings a mix of pride and responsibility. When so many eyes are on you, when everyone expects you to be the one to solve problems and make everything work, it’s inevitable to feel that internal tension reminding you that you can’t fail—even if you know your craft and have the experience to do it right.
The drive to the hotel went by almost before we knew it. As we drove along, I was able to enjoy some sights that always lift my spirits: the sun glinting off the vegetation, the gentle movement of the island waking up, and that fresh air that signals a good day ahead. When we arrived, they were already waiting for us to enter the desalination plant. That feeling of being welcomed with such anticipation always makes your heart race.

Hoy quiero compartirles, con un poco más de calma y detalle, cómo fue nuestro último día de trabajo en esta primera etapa en la planta desalinizadora del hotel Ecoland. Fue una jornada que marcó un cierre importante, no solo por lo técnico, sino también por lo emocional, porque veníamos de días intensos, de esos que te dejan el ánimo un poco apagado y el cuerpo con la sensación de haber dado más de lo habitual.
Salimos de casa temprano, con un entusiasmo renovado. Sabíamos que este día era crucial: iniciar la primera etapa de un trabajo tan grande y tan esperado significaba mucho para nosotros. La confianza que depositaron en nuestro equipo fue enorme, y eso siempre genera una mezcla de orgullo y responsabilidad. Cuando tantas miradas están puestas en ti, cuando todos esperan que seas tú quien resuelva, quien logre que todo funcione, es inevitable sentir esa tensión interna que te recuerda que no puedes fallar, aunque conozcas tu oficio y tengas la experiencia para hacerlo bien.
El trayecto hacia el hotel pasó casi sin darnos cuenta. Mientras avanzábamos, pude disfrutar algunos paisajes que siempre me reconfortan; el brillo del sol sobre la vegetación, el movimiento tranquilo de la isla despertando, y ese aire fresco que anuncia que será un buen día. Al llegar, ya nos estaban esperando para entrar a la planta desalinizadora. Esa sensación de ser recibidos con expectativa siempre te activa el corazón.

That day's work was crucial. We had to start up the plant's first five filters, a task that required precision, patience, and a great deal of attention. We began by cleaning the filters, checking every detail, and making sure everything was in order before turning on the equipment.

El trabajo de ese día era decisivo. Debíamos poner en marcha los primeros cinco filtros de la planta, una tarea que requería precisión, paciencia y mucha atención. Comenzamos limpiando las cargas, revisando cada detalle, asegurándonos de que todo estuviera en orden antes de encender los equipos.

When we finally started up the filters, we noticed that the pressures were irregular—something that often happens when a plant has been shut down for an extended period. It took us quite a while to stabilize them, checking every point, every valve, every reading.
In the end, we discovered that the problem wasn’t with the filters, but with a pump that wasn’t generating the proper pressure. Solving it was a huge relief. Once the issue was fixed, the filters began operating at the correct pressure, and seeing them work as they should filled us with happiness and satisfaction. It’s that kind of quiet joy that only those who work with systems dependent on so many factors can understand—and when they finally respond, they give you a profound sense of accomplishment.

Cuando finalmente pusimos los filtros en marcha, notamos que las presiones estaban irregulares, algo que suele ocurrir cuando una planta ha estado detenida por un tiempo prolongado. Nos tomó un buen rato estabilizarlas, revisando cada punto, cada válvula, cada lectura.
Al final descubrimos que el problema no venía de los filtros, sino de una bomba que no estaba levantando la presión adecuada. Resolverlo fue un alivio enorme. Una vez corregido, los filtros comenzaron a trabajar con la presión correcta, y verlos funcionar como debían nos llenó de felicidad y satisfacción. Es ese tipo de alegría silenciosa que solo entiende quien trabaja con sistemas que dependen de tantos factores y que, cuando finalmente responden, te regalan una sensación de logro profundo.

When we were done, we left the hotel with a tremendous sense of fulfillment in our hearts. We felt that we had accomplished our goal, that we had given it our all, and that the plant was beginning to breathe again. Then we headed into the city—a long drive, but one dotted with beautiful urban and natural landscapes. We had to drop off an invoice for one of our services at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center, so we made that stop before heading home.

Al terminar, salimos del hotel con un bienestar inmenso en el corazón. Sentíamos que habíamos cumplido, que dimos lo mejor y que la planta comenzaba a respirar nuevamente. Luego nos dirigimos a la ciudad, un trayecto largo pero adornado con paisajes urbanos y naturales muy hermosos. Teníamos que entregar una factura de uno de nuestros servicios en el centro comercial Parque Costa Azul, así que hicimos esa parada antes de regresar a casa.

Later that afternoon, with our work done, we went to rest. The week is still going on, and we still have tasks to oversee and supervise, but wrapping up this first phase gave us the boost we needed.
