[ENG/ESP] A Wednesday of work, a road trip, the ocean, and peace and quiet
Happy Wednesday, dear community. Just like every week, I couldn’t pass up this wonderful initiative from our friend @tattoodjay, which has already become something of a ritual for me. I love sharing my journeys, my landscapes, and those little moments that make every day special with you all, and I also really enjoy seeing yours, because every perspective, every photograph, and every story has its own charm.
My Wednesday started pretty early. My husband and I had to head out to do our usual work routine, and this time our destination was the Sunsol Ecoland Hotel, where they were waiting for us to disinfect and chlorinate the main water tank. It’s a job that requires consistency, precision, and a lot of care, but it also gives us the chance to explore different parts of the island—and that’s something I’m always grateful for.
We took the Portachuelo road, a route that never disappoints. The scenery was radiant, bathed in that soft morning light that makes everything seem more alive. The green of the hills in the area blended so harmoniously that it was impossible not to stop for a moment to take it all in. And, of course, I couldn’t resist sharing it with you, because I know many of you enjoy these corners of the island just as much as I do.
Feliz miércoles, querida comunidad. Como cada semana, no podía dejar pasar esta hermosa iniciativa de nuestro amigo @tattoodjay, que ya se ha convertido en una especie de ritual para mí. Me encanta compartirles mis recorridos, mis paisajes y esos pequeños momentos que hacen especial cada día, y también disfruto muchísimo ver los de ustedes, porque cada mirada, cada fotografía y cada historia tiene su encanto propio.
Mi miércoles comenzó bastante temprano. Mi esposo y yo teníamos que salir a cumplir con nuestra rutina de trabajo, y en esta ocasión el destino era el hotel Sunsol Ecoland, donde nos esperaban para realizar la desinfección y cloración del tanque principal. Es un trabajo que requiere constancia, precisión y mucho cuidado, pero también nos regala la oportunidad de recorrer distintos lugares de la isla, y eso siempre es algo que agradezco.
Tomamos la vía Portachuelo, una ruta que nunca decepciona. Los paisajes estaban radiantes, bañados por esa luz suave de la mañana que hace que todo parezca más vivo. El verde de los cerros de la zona se combinaban de una manera tan armoniosa que era imposible no detenerse un momento para contemplarlo. Y, por supuesto, no podía dejar de compartirlo con ustedes, porque sé que muchos disfrutan tanto como yo de estos rincones de la isla.
When we arrived at the hotel, the team was already waiting for us. We carried out our usual chlorination and disinfection routine with our usual dedication, making sure everything was in perfect condition.
Al llegar al hotel, el equipo ya nos esperaba. Realizamos nuestra rutina de clorado y desinfección con la dedicación de siempre, asegurándonos de que todo quedara en perfecto estado.
Once the work on the main tank was finished, we took the opportunity to take a short tour of the facilities. The atmosphere was calm; the sounds of nature mingled with the soft murmur of the guests, and everything conveyed a very pleasant sense of peace.
Una vez terminado el trabajo en el tanque principal, aprovechamos para dar un pequeño recorrido por las instalaciones. El ambiente estaba tranquilo, el sonido de la naturaleza se mezclaba con el murmullo suave de los huéspedes y todo transmitía una sensación de paz muy agradable.
Since we finished earlier than expected, we decided to treat ourselves to a tour of the city of Juangriego. I have to admit that this city captivates me every time I visit it. It has something special—perhaps its proximity to the sea, perhaps the warmth of its people, perhaps the fact that its streets are always so clean. It’s a place where you feel like time passes more slowly and where every corner holds a story.
Como terminamos antes de lo previsto, decidimos darnos un gusto; hacer un recorrido por la ciudad de Juangriego. Les confieso que esta ciudad me cautiva cada vez que la visito. Tiene algo especial, quizá su cercanía al mar, quizá la calidez de su gente, quizá la limpieza que siempre prima en sus calles. Es un lugar donde uno siente que el tiempo pasa más despacio y donde cada esquina guarda una historia.
A large portion of its residents make their living from fishing, and you can really feel that in the atmosphere. The boats—it’s all part of a very distinct and beautiful identity. The beach is wide and peaceful, and when you look down on the town from above, the view is simply spectacular. Juangriego has that perfect blend of tradition and natural beauty that makes you want to come back again and again.
Una gran parte de sus pobladores vive de la pesca, y eso se nota en el ambiente. Las embarcación, todo forma parte de una identidad muy marcada y muy hermosa. La playa es amplia y serena, y cuando se observa la ciudad desde las alturas, el paisaje es sencillamente espectacular. Juangriego tiene esa mezcla perfecta entre tradición y belleza natural que hace que uno quiera volver una y otra vez.
After our brief tour, we headed back home. We felt the satisfaction of a job well done, and our minds were at ease after everything we’d seen. Sometimes, a simple walk, an unexpected view, or a city we already know but that always surprises us is enough to lift our spirits and remind us how lucky we are to live surrounded by so much beauty.

Después de nuestro breve recorrido, emprendimos el regreso a casa. Íbamos con la satisfacción del deber cumplido y con la mente relajada por todo lo que habíamos visto. A veces, un simple paseo, un paisaje inesperado o una ciudad que ya conocemos pero que siempre nos sorprende, es suficiente para renovar el ánimo y recordarnos lo afortunados que somos de vivir rodeados de tanta belleza.
