[ENG/ESP] A Wednesday filled with work, rain, and makeshift repairs

Happy day, dear friends of #wednesdaywalk .
Here I am again for another week, with a joyful heart, to share my journey with you and a little glimpse of everyday life on our beautiful Margarita Island. Every Wednesday has become a little ritual that I enjoy immensely, because it allows me to pause for a moment, look around, and tell you how my day went—with all its details, unexpected twists, and joys.
This day started very early—even earlier than usual—even though it was a holiday for many here on the island. While much of the community was resting, our family business had to work. That’s just how this line of work is; while others enjoy themselves, we make sure everything runs smoothly so they can do so with peace of mind. And although it’s sometimes hard to get up early, there’s also a certain charm in watching the city slowly wake up, with that fresh air that lingers in the early morning after the rain.
Our first stop was the Parque Costa Azul shopping center. With so many tourists and vacationers visiting these days, we’ve had to check the water quality and the filter’s operation almost daily. The water trucks have been refilling the tanks quite frequently, which requires constant monitoring to ensure everything is in optimal condition. The weather was beautiful; the sky was clear, the colors were vivid, and the plants were radiant after the overnight rain. It was impossible not to feel a little burst of energy upon seeing the landscape so refreshed.

However, the trip wasn’t quite that simple. The work truck started acting up, though fortunately it allowed us to make it to the mall and get our work done. We finished the job successfully, with the peace of mind that we’d left everything in order. But by the time we left, my husband had already made a decision: to take the truck to the repair shop. The problem was annoying—the gears weren’t shifting smoothly, and driving like that was a challenge. The problem was that, since it was a holiday, all the repair shops were closed.

My husband called a friend of his, a mechanic, who told us to go to his house in La Asunción. As soon as we arrived, he checked the truck and immediately pinpointed the problem: the starter motor, which we had replaced just a month ago. Without wasting any time, he got to work under the sun, with the kind of dedication that only good friends have—those who don’t hesitate to lend a hand when it’s needed. My husband knows a thing or two about mechanics, but when it comes to the truck, he only knows the basics, so it was a relief to have someone who really knew what he was doing.

After an hour and a half of intense work, they managed to get the cloche just right—even better than last time: smooth, precise, and a perfect fit. With that unexpected problem solved, we returned home feeling a huge sense of relief. Today we were going to meet up with some friends for tea and a chat—a well-deserved break after such a hectic day.
